Really have no clue. I registered that way when I turned 18 because even back then I saw the hypocrisy of both parties and couldn't stomach signing up for one or the other.

I think that both my districts are taken care of because I've talked with both of my elected officials and they seem to support what I do. Maybe I can start smaller and go for county commissioner.

If you believe in liberty, then please do. Taking back local and state gov is our only hope. Generally, tagging along to one of the big parties is the way to go for a higher office. And by one of the parties I mean Republican. Dems won't tolerate pro freedom people in their ranks. The only freedom they desire is to kill the unborn.

The more I've thought about it, the more I like the idea of starting smaller. My districts seem to be represented well. It'll give me time to build a following and then get elected to bigger stuff. Wondering if attaching an R to my name would help in a county commissioner election...

My opinion, is this. Being Non party affiliated is the best thing to do. 1 reason, flexibility to do what the majority of voters tell you to do.

Exactly.
Once upon a time, perhaps. But the time of either of the 2 main parties is long past. These days, one's rarely much better than the other.
Also, once you align yourself to, and run as, a particular party-you lose a LOT of your options to perform to what YOU have in mind. You end up becoming sub-servant to the Party ideologies and actions, in order to continue to have their support.
And that severely limits what you can and cannot get done.
Further, it alienates one entire segment of potential voters most of the time.
These days with two distinct ideologies at two near-opposite ends of everything, that immediately labels you one way or another. What if some of your plans or ideas dont exactly fall into either? Or straddles them?
Also there are a lot of things in government-day to day items-that end up getting politicized and ideology-locked-that really dont need to be.

NPA keeps options open-for you, and for the voters. And, it IS what it's all about-at the end of the day- the VOTERS.

Does this mean that I was wise beyond my years at 18 when I registered as NPA or did I just have a good civics teacher?

Just thought of something. What are the qualifications for running for Sheriff? I have found that my reps just need some encouraging and should be fine but our sheriff is one of the ones that was "bad" for the cause.

Any ideas?

The actual qualifications required to run for and be elected sheriff in Florida are minimal.

A candidate needs only to be at least 18 years old, a registered voter, and a citizen of Florida to be eligible to run, and then either gather 1,862 signed petitions or pay an $8,400 fee to qualify as a partisan candidate.

Now, getting elected without some LE qualifications would be rather difficult,Im sure..

If I did senator I'd be running against Thad Altman, who I thought was ok. I'm not sure where they all fit.

I think that if I made a campaign promise to go to the academy if I get elected it may help but not much. I have no admin experience either. Anyone want to donate me $8400 so I can run? Or sign a petition.

Well, have you looked at other offices? Like the House?Doesnt have to be Senate or Sheriff. Also things like City Council and such could help.
Also, there's the aspect of this possible re-districting. No one's exactly sure where the new lines will cross on the maps, just yet.
So, could be you find your suddenly in a different district, with a different opponent.

I think a comparison of Reps who were decent compared to Senators int he same district. Promoting good reps to replace Senators would be an easier task, methinks.

Not a bad idea, but things along those lines were suggested earlier and shot down in flames by certain folks of a certain movement who fear publicly calling-out the bad apples, leading more than a few to second-guess real loyalties and agendas...
