Black Powder

Glad you liked it 'Citizen" Just for a laugh mate. I replied to 'Im your Father"' just for a laugh. Some people dont get Aussie humor, I'm not surprised though, were a wierd mob! I mean, fancy banning guns in a country like ours, its crazy stuff. Its wild outback mate. I mean, 'EMPTY' spaces for thousands of miles. One homestead, a few thousand miles further another. We have slept easy for 200 years, now anything goes, the crims are having a field day. Well as long as they dont try to enter my place after dark, or evenduring the day. LOL.
Haz.

Can you have black powder weapons?

Okay - the OP is obviously a troll, but what the heck...

Ban handguns in the USA

That ain't gonna happen, because the Supreme Court incorporated the 2nd Amendment a couple of months ago. At this point, I could stop, but this is fun.

We don't need to possess handguns to be safe.

Short answer: Yes, we do. And we need AR-15's too, but that's for another thread.

People are being killed everyday because someone was allowed to own a handgun.

No people are being killed every day for many reasons (they're not able to defened themselves, they deserved it, or it was simply an accident). I own a handgun (several in fact), and nobody has died as a result.

It really shouldn't be that way. That is why I support a handgun ban, and am for stricter gun control laws. Only people in jobs that require handguns should have them (police, military, etc). It is their job to protect us, not ours.

Think about it sparky... Bad guys don't care how many laws or controls are in place. Their job is to perpetrate crime and generally conduct themselves in an unlawful manner. By their very nature, they don't care, and they'll find a way to get a gun in order to further their agenda.

Here's another fact - municipalities all across this country are cutting back on police officers to salvage what's left of their Obama-induced budget shortfalls, laying off as much as 25% of their force in one fell swoop. The immdeiate side effect of these layoffs is that the police no longer respond to non-violent crimes, preferring instead that Joe Q. Victim simply write up a report of the incident and submit it via the web. This means there is NO PROTECTION that we can reasonably expect from the police.

Under those circumstances, WHY should we parade around thinking everything is rosey and that a cop is just seconds away if life gioes sideways on us? Even when cops DO respond, they're at a minium of seven minutes away AFTER you've called 911, and that's assuming the bad guy didn't take your phone before you could make the call.

Your only recourse is to be armed to the teeth and present yourself as a hardened target for any would-be criminal. That's the ONLY thing that will save your life.

You want to here something REALLY funny? I'll even shoot someone if they're a threat to YOUR life, because - well - I'm that guy.

Finally, just because you don't want to exercise YOUR constitutional rights doesn't give you the right (or authority) to infringe mine.

Any protection is better than none

My younger son told me a story over the weekend that illustrated this nicely.

He was on delivery in DC, in traffic, and noticed someone change direction and approach his van, on foot.

Son doesn't carry a firearm, but picked up the very large knife he kept with him at the time, and held in it calmly in his hand that was atop the steering wheel.

On seeing the blade, the [putative] BG abruptly changed direction and moved on.

Might be just an odd cosmic "coincidence"... but I don't believe in that.

They obviously dont understand WHY we have the second amendment. It is NOT a hunting right, nore is it really a "self defense right" it is in place as the LAST line of defense from a wanna be tyrant or "ruler" such as they have in ALL other countries. Here is the famous quote or similar. " Leave now and go in peace". If I was a wanna be tyrant or wanna be ruler I would want to ban guns too. Away with you!

Facts really don't matter. It's like the little kids with their hands over their ears saying "La la la, I can't hear you!"

It is a mental disorder, one that has been, up until recently, limited by Mom Nature (lifeguard at the gene pool).

People who pretended not to see the tiger quickly became "lunch", often before they could produce defective offspring.

Now, however, society protects such unfit persons and allows them to flourish. To the detriment of society as a whole.

Gawd ain't that the truth!

You speak about that as if its a good thing. Do you really hate individualism that much?

The last thing we need are 15-year-olds who won't take the initiative to enjoy an alcohol beverage, because the borg told them not to. That is not the path to human advancement.

And I've never been impressed by "honor". I'll take a follower of the principle of non-aggression over an "honorable" person any day of the week.

How is "honourable - ethical: adhering to ethical and moral principles; "it seems ethical and right"; "followed the only honorable course of action"" bad? I'll agree that subservience is useless in the land of the free, but we need to be people of honour, not corrupt sociopaths; even if they are non-aggressive corrupt sociopaths. I'm sure Madoff was non-aggressive.

Why bother with the obvious Troll - he posted 2 posts back in May and has never returned.

Mods lock this as a useless thread please.
