...the main efforts currently are for the legislative session, which will be a real touch-and-go one this year.

I can only assume the members are getting detailed reports on the efforts and progress, right Big Guy?

(To clarify for anyone reading, "Big Guy" refers to another member's handle; I am not using it derogatorily to "wrightme.")

As a member I can say no detail has been sent to me.

I do know that a fair amount of information is disseminated through their facebook presence.

The big point I see in all of this, is the NVFAC you who are 'on the fence,' should NOT be adversaries; yet it seems many of you are more than prepared to treat them that way. What I have seen, is that the goals they are aiming for are the SAME ONES as you (collectively) state you desire. The methods are different.

That sounds exactly like the issue we have with the progressives! We all want less violence!

Here is what they had to say about yesterday.

An adversary works against you.

Asking pointed questions and pointing out what you are or are not doing is simply asking questions and pointing out what you are or are not doing.

HUGE difference.

I don't have Facebook. Is that required?

That would never have happened had we not been there, also voicing our concerns on how to stop gun violence.

I get an occasional notice via email of upcoming events same as anyone else. The webpage does not give much information yet, but then I don't hit it that often. I have had some discussions with Don Turner and he has filled me in on some things, nothing really that is being hidden from view but just general stuff. He told me that the best place to keep up is Face Book, but I don't use it.

I have said it before and will say it again, do I like everything that is happening with the Association? No. I have not been silent on my opinion of the NVFAC association with the shooting park. I think it is wrong headed and I will continue to strongly push to sever any association with the county. I'm not happy with Bob Irwin either but I think that can be remedied.

NVFAC is suffering growing pains. What it needs up front is numbers and money. It has got to point it's efforts toward Carson City. We have a real chance at losing ground this session. If we don't find a way to come together with a strong voice we are going to lose. Efforts by individuals are very important but we need a cohesive force to work at the state level.

I will stay a member and make sure my voice is heard. I don't see it as being ignored, I see it as an honest disagreement over direction. I don't expect it to all go my way all the time. The goals of the Association are basically my goals. One law for all of Nevada. I just hope it doesn't end up Clark County law for all of Nevada.

Nope, that isn't the same thing at all.

But, interesting that some pro-gun types are reportedly in agreement with them....
Even a couple of the counter-protesters conceded the necessity of universal background checks!
Fair-use excerpt.

Even the NRA is against universal bg checks.

Unless you forgot to put a point in your last post, I will have to take it as an attempt at a dig while admitting you have no facts to substantiate your "covert dig" Let me provide you with some real stuff to Nit pick me over.
Here is my Bullet points that I sent back to the Progressive dude:
I am 100% against the war on drugs.
I am pro abortion (not late term)
I want no law that makes my neighbor a criminal, absent a victim.
I abhor the war machine (The idea that we need to interfear with violence in other countries affairs.) (SP) error intentional.
Peace is in the #1 position of the Progressive platform, why would folks like Brian push for a law (magazine ban) that would potential have armed SWAT breaking down my door?

In short we all as Americans have things in common with other Americans You can hate someone because of their political affiliation all you want, I won't sign up for it.
I have a sit down with him next week, I wish you could be a fly on the wall!

I read that there, too, but...

I was there. None of us said that. And you can bet that Channel 8 would have thought it interesting if we had. But it was easy enough for them to give hearsay without a quote.

I hear Ronald Reagan supported a ban on assault weapons; in fact that meme is also on their page somewhere. However, any type of direct quote (that I could judge for myself) was suspiciously lacking.

I have no doubt that NONE of you made that comment. But. Now, that is out, and someone from here is meeting with them. I know it isn't what it looks like from the outside, but those who don't know you guys, wouldn't.

I simply don't see the wisdom of sitting with them, unless a clear recording and transcript is kept. Otherwise, such hearsay will undoubtedly fly. It already is, on the website linked here.

As for Ronald Reagan:
http://www.politifact.com/georgia/s...obama/did-reagan-support-assault-weapons-ban/
Seems that President Reagan wasn't, but Former President Reagan was.

Just saw the news 8 clip about this, linked on the NVFAC FB page.

Looked good!

I especially liked the closing comment that '[Heck] will not support measures that infringe upon the second amendment.'

I sent Don the link, not sure how it would go over, but he was receptive and supportive. Here is his reply:

Very good, thanks for sharing. Please let us know if you hear of any type of this stuff going on. We may be able to have members attend to help you out.

Don

Hear of it going on? ........ You gotta make it go on. Jus sayin!!! But Props to Don for being supportive.

We have seen what the war on Drugs has done, then the war on terror! Could there be a war on Guns? How do we support one and not the other?

We didn't learn a thing from prohibition did we??? An example of Capitalism at its finest. Find a need and fill it. Drugs worked out the same way and so will guns. In fact it already has in those bastions of safety we know as gun free zones. IE: Sheetcago...
