Returned home yesterday from Idaho where I was able to CC, or rather not be concerned if my shirt or coat covered my firearm, it was nice and makes me really excited to get my CFP here.

Anyhow back on track, I carried several places today and had an interesting incident happen.
My wife, boy and I went to a gas station on Decatur and Washington to get some drinks and there was a questionable fellow lurking and texting, not buying anything. Well he exited the store shortly after I arrived, the clerk thanked me and said that the guy had been there for 15 minutes and was starting to really freak him out. He asked if I was LEO, I of course told him no and went on with my day.

Thought I should share this as a reminder to always be prepared and aware of your surroundings.

25 Dec: OC at Red Rock Casino...Line at the buffet was outrageous. Grande Cafe had long line. The BBQ joint was wide open, but the wife didn't want to go there. Out the door.

Went to Sun Coast and ate at Cafe Sinea, or some such name. Food was not good. Should have just stuck with the tried and true places, but most were closed.

I kept my hand in my pocket on my strong side, which resulted in my forearm and elbow covering most of my holster. It still could be seen, but you'd have to look pretty hard to see it. While waiting in a short line at the cafe I kept my strong side to the wall and slanted my stance away from the casino floor. I know it was kind of a cowardly way to go about OC in the casinos, but I am not there for a confrontation. I just want to be inside and enjoy the place, but still have my gun handy should I need it.

26 Dec: Streets of New York, Farm and Norman Rockwell, Centennial Hills. Went in and placed to go order; waited inside for about 15 minutes. No problems, and I didn't expect any. I have eaten inside there a few times while open carrying and no one has ever said anything about it. Pretty good food there.

I have been carrying everywhere lately with no issues. Shopping a lot more at Smiths, even went to Kohls a few times with no issues. I learned a while ago that Cardenas allows their security to carry but only while patrolling the parking lot. Better than being completely unarmed I guess.

I can't believe this year is almost over and I have only been carrying since March. I have learned so much and I know there is so much more to learn.

I hope everyone has a safe New Years and to start seeing more at our monthly meet ups!

My wife has been hooked on Kohls every since they came to town. They have a good gimmick with mailer discounts. I am of the opinion if not on sale it can be purchased somewhere else cheaper.
Now to the point. I have OCed in all of them many times over the years.

Good report. There is no telling how many would be crimes may have been stopped just by the sight of a open carried firearm. Over the years on Open carry dot org I have read other postings of what appeared to be a wrong doer leaving after see one of our posters.

Thanks for making it clear you did have the firearm somewhat hidden.
Sure like to see some day where casino’s or any business for the matter would post a sing saying No illegal guns allowed. Will not stop the illegal ones however showing they are ok with legal carried ones.

Went to Sears, JC Penny’s, Smash Burger and Home Depot all in the area of W Flamingo and 215. Got some good after Christmas deals. Not in a mall so OCing a non-issue and no crowds. At Sears several offers of do we needed any help. A real pleasure shopping.
Headed home going to the Pahrump Wal-Mart to pickup a prescription. I happen to make eye contact with the guy behind me, as it appeared he was checking out my firearm. I said how you doing he said fine. Then came the question of what is needed to carry a firearm? I said if you are a legal firearm owner all you need to do is strap it on.
He said he moved here 8 months ago from New Jersey. I said make yourself knowledgeable of the NV gun laws which are fairly simple and checkout opencarry.org. As I was leaving in a very serious tone he said I am getting me a carry gun.

That wording would be kinda pointless as in saying, "No illegal anything" - if it's illegal already, no point in saying it. I know what you're saying, just trying to clarify it a bit though.

Perhaps, "We respect lawful carry" would show support without being redundant. I've also seen signs in establishments in other OC friendly STATES that read "No open carry" - being the opposite (yet concise) statement of the previous one. I do hope that sign does not catch on, but I'm betting it will for it says nothing of laws or obviousness (like be lawful) while making it clear that the business takes issue with visible guns.

And in the true nature of your intent 28k to point out the absurdity of signs, I've long proposed t-shirts for antis that reads, "No violating my person or property - it's the law or This person and property protected under penalty of law." I mean, if they believe it works making laws and signs that say "no guns"...

I've OCd before at Sante Fe and Aliante walking around like a bold MF, not trying to hide anything. I OCd at Sante Fe 3 times. The first time was inside; I walked right by security and the dude didn't even see my gun. The second time was inside, security walked by me twice...didn't notice I was armed. The third time was last 4th of July. My wife, son and I were on the top level of the parking structure watching the fireworks. There were a few other people up there also. Security came by on a bike and told us we'd have to leave. A car dealership rents out the top level there. I walked right past the dude and he didn't notice a thing. I OCd twice at Aliante. The first time I was at the far end of the casino near the hotel check in with my wife and son to go to Friday's. There was no security there at all. The second time, I was playing a slot and security in a suit saw my gun. He said Aliante supported my right to carry but for the sake of the weenies (my word, not his) I could stay if I would conceal. I told him I didn't have a CCW so I'd have to leave. He was very nice about the whole thing, and at least they will let you have a gun inside if you have a CCW. I've OCd at Fashion Mall twice. On both occasions I either walked by security or they walked by me, and they never even noticed I was carrying...again, I wasn't trying to hide the fact either.

What that tells me is that the security dudes have really poor observation skills. Either I should tell their bosses they need more training so they can do their jobs competently, or I should just keep my mouth shut and be thankful that they are poorly trained so I can keep OCing in those places without being bothered.

Understand what you are saying. However I have been at this talking to the public about OCing for some time. I have a few negative responses due to my wording. Been schooled on many of my posting on someone else’s opinion on what I should say, obviously you are not the first.
I would guess most conversation is less than a minute long. My statement of if you are a legal gun owner works well as most that ask know there has to be some kind of rule to carry. I give it to them up front “legal gun owner” I find it shortens the conversion and gets the point across.

I think maybe there's a misunderstanding. ???

I was just saying that posting a sign that reads "no illegal guns" (as you proposed casinos or other business' do) is pointless as obviously ANYTHING that is illegal should already be presumed to not be allowed. That's all.

I agree with you that telling people "if you are allowed to own it you are allowed to carry it" or some other condensed version of that is quick and to the point.

And I have often misread / misunderstood or confused one poster's post with another's or made a complete mess of my own posts. Short of Grapeshot, most of us are not literary masters and sometimes write wrong. haha (said with tongue in cheek)
