OC'd at the TJ Maxx at the Best of the West. As I was checking out I think the employees had a revalation.
Woman: Excuse me...do you run in your heels?
Me: ummm no.
Woman: you ever watch this show called Castle? It's about a cop who wears heels and runs all the time.
Me: I've never heard of that show. I'm sorry...do you think I'm a cop?
Woman: you're not cop?! But you have a gun?
Me: yes I do...so I'll NEVER have to run in my heels
Man behind counter: oh ****?! (With a smirk on his face)
Might just be the best story of the day!

Great story, I am with you, I do not run in heels either. Do they even make heels with a 250-pound rating?

Went to smog my car.. I got out so the tech could do what he needed to, I was leaning against the side of my vehicle soaking up some sunshine. The guy in line behind me leans out and asks "Is that open carry?" While pointing to my XD I said Yep. He wanted to ask questions so I stepped over and chatted with him. He was extremely interested, as he does not like the idea of asking permission. He may be joining us.

We had around 16 at our meet up this time at Twin Peaks on Eastern. SharpShootur once again did a great job. My wife and I were the first of the bunch. They had a large table ready. Waitress came over ask what we wanted to drink. She set us up with our drinks came back a few minuets later sat across from us asked if we were having a party. Nope just a group exercising our right to carry firearms. Told her the table should be full of men and woman all carrying in a few minuets. She asked if it was a club. I said no just average hard working people that belong to the same Face Book group. She said interesting if you need anything to let any of the servers know.
Like always great time, good laughs, Met a new couple, Food was good, beer served below freezing and their hand crafted beer was good.
No issue.

I was, uh, feeling unwell and couldn't make it. I'm very disappointed I missed out. Been wanting to try that place for a long time.

I was away for a while, and am now back to my usual being completely overwhelmed. I might be scarce, but had to share one of my recent encounters. Rest assured, my daily experiences are all positive and numerous, but this is the one worth mentioning. One of my clients is a very wealthy local figure. Aside from many things I do for his estate, I am at his personal house frequently. So yesterday, I walk in and pass through the dining room on my way to get some things repaired in the bar. The estate manager, a friend, is having some sort of very official meeting with some sort of VIP. All of sudden, the new guy's eyes get wide as I walk through the room.

He stops mid sentence to address me: "Excuse me, is that a gun?"

"Yes, sir," I reply very respectfully but with just a hint of 'of course' in my voice.

"Why are we carrying a gun?"

"Why aren't we?"

At this point the estate manager flashes open his vest to reveal a large .45 as well: "We all carry guns. Why aren't you?" The man's face showed the shock he felt realizing he'd been having a professional conversation with an armed man.

Since carrying a gun is perfectly normal, I continue on about my business, as if all we'd shared were mere pleasantries. I could hear that their conversation was about guns, permits, open carry, and California for several minutes before my friend had to get the guy's attention back on the Rolls Royce collection.

I realize it's not as cool as a story involving running in heels, but I certainly feel another dent was made.

Allow me a very brief rant about the state's violation of personal privacy. Does it bother anyone else that I am required by the law to allow someone I don't know into my vehicle every year? Especially with my diesel, the guy has to spend quite a bit of time in my chair, driving it onto the dynamometer, and going through several engine engagements, and he's able to access all the things I have in there. Fortunately, after several years of using the same guy, I'm a little more comfortable with him and he doesn't even make comments about the shotgun in the roof rack over his head anymore. But that doesn't change how violated I feel that I am required by the state to endure it.

I do not smog any of my vehicles.

Great encounter, and your friend's comment was priceless.

I imagine the man (being from one of the slave states, perhaps?) must have been thoroughly indoctrinated with the "only cops and criminals carry guns" mentality.

Heels, stripper poles, armed peeps, and VIPs... Nevada must be where it's at.:p

Have long held that education is the second great reason we open carry. It may not be every user's/poster's intent, but it is an unavoidable byproduct of OCing.

That and it is the primary reason for this forum :)
