Oh boy, here come the Sig, Springfield, 1911 frame, etc fans.... *ducks* :p

LOL, I'll bite!

re: Glock, yes you may find a combat gun that is as good as a Glock, but you won't find one that's better.

Except for a few that have triggers that don't suck. :p
Like; IDK, 1911's or HK-USP's:D

Heheheh.... Knowing what it would unleash, I smiled when I wrote that line about Glocks.

"Good trigger" vs "sucky trigger" is pretty much in the eye of the beholder. I remember a conversation with a friend who is a member of the State Capitol Police who said they couldn't stand the Sig's they were given because of the trigger. I've fired H&K's and absolutely hated the trigger. But I could get used to it. Don't forget, we're talking about combat shooting here, where the characteristics of a "good trigger" is that the gun goes "boom" at the appropriate time. The most important characteristic of a combat gun is reliability.

I realize that coming from target shooting my definition of a good trigger is a little different. A good trigger for me is one that has no creep and breaks like a glass rod. You won't find that with most striker or double action only designs. I would find that using your definition of a good trigger; a gun going "boom" at the proper time, it would mean when it is aimed exactly where you want it. That's less likely without a nice trigger. Of course, at most "combat shooting" distances it doesn't matter to hit "minute of badguy" unless it's 20lbs and creepy and gritty as hell.

So, it can be pretty subjective, yes. Of course, I still had to bite to defend the single actions honor. LOL

Fair enough, but target shooting and combat shooting are apples and oranges. That's why I said one cannot find a "combat gun." Glocks are not generally designed to be target guns, although both my G35 (3.5 lb trigger) and G20 seem to be up to the task of being one-hole accurate when I am up to it also.

(I don't really care what sort of gun somebody uses because it's not nearly as important as how effective they are with it. The man or woman behind the gun is what is crucial.)

1911's have been in more combat than any handgun in the history of mankind.

Ha, considering it was cold and windy I probably should have tucked it back, or worn a hat. Being a photographer I knew that the wide-angle lens being held about 18 inches from my face was going to distort my face somewhat, but if you've ever seen some of my photography you'll see that I enjoy distorting my face.

2 words: Imperial Disruptor, the best gun ever!

Expression is not “I want to kill", but one of seriousness, as the article supported. I think a holstered weapon would have better, but your finger is in the register position. Unless you’re ready to shoot, that’s where the trigger finger is supposed to be – the ready position. Based on that, the photo is appropriate. And a nice one at that.

The article was fine I an not saying anything bad about the worded content of the article..... but you, the object of the story has the ability to say NO to requests for a picture of the pistol in your hand. Yes, what you were doing was brandishing....you were brandishing the weapon for the photographer. The pistol by LAW is to remain in the holster unless you are going to fire it for self defense, case it or uncase it. period...NO, Posing with the handgun as you are with WCI & we believe in RESPONSIBLE -> HOLSTERED CARRY ((( RIGHT ???? ))) If it was a story about Skeet or trap shooting then holding a SHOTGUN would have been acceptable. So next time use a better example... I guess this conversation is lost on some people that ENJOY being the Poster children for Open carry, it's too bad you don't have enough common sense to leave the G Dammed thing in your holster where it belongs....You made the people here that know any better look really F'ing dumb.

Michigan Open Carry agrees about the idea of holding the gun. I have been interviewed several times as have other MOC members. We are always asked to take the gun out for a picture. We explain that it could be considered brandishing and refuse. All the photos so far in articles show a gun in a holster.

Right or wrong it's what we do.

Do you ever shoot your guns in Michigan? If so, how do you do it without removing it from the holster?

Brandishing means to display a gun in a hostile or threatening manner. It doesn't mean simply "to display a gun."

but, gasp, it's a gun! it could just jump right out of your hand, run over and kill some one. yeah, sure, the next thing they'll say that revving the engine on your car, means you intend to run someone over.
