No it doesn't, but free trade does.
And it was free trade the "western" culture these concepts that we advanced.
I bet if you were to study why they stopped "advancing" it wasn't due to being muslim. And I feel this might be a little shortsighted in inferring they have nothing to ad to science, medicine or technology today......
I stand by my contention that it has been a very very very very very very very very very very long time since that culture advanced anything other than finance. Oh, investing in companies/individuals who do create advancements is not the same as that culture creating advancements. But, this is likely splitting hairs due to the fact that a advancement can not typically get created these days without money. So I guess one could say that Arabs continue to advance our civilization.
By the way, I did not mention Muslim. When Arabs (Are Babylonians considered Arab?) were "creating" algebra Islam was not even a twinkle in the eye of any Arab. Babylonia is where it is said that the roots of algebra can be found.
Read up on François Viète.
The rise of Islam is, in my view, the single event that greatly diminished the Arab cultures contributions to the advancement of our civilization. Very unfortunate for our civilization.
