Why OC as opposed to CC?

I have recently completed all the necessary requirements (gun safety class, fingerprints, photos, notary, etc) for the LA concealed weapon application, but I'm? considering not applying. The $$$ isn't a huge deal, but are there any 'more' places I can carry with a CC permit? or is it just the difference of concealment or not?

For example, can I open carry in a restaurant or in Walmart? Can they ask me to leave? Would then the CC permit be better? What is the 'real' advantage?

Secondly, I don't like the idea of being in a national database as a permit-holder. Is it not a common war-time tactic to obtain such lists for population disarmament? Did Hitler and Stalin not employ such tactics?
So nobody know you own a gun now?

Yeah, good point, TJ, but I haven't listed my contact information and my email is untraceable also. However, now that I say that, anonymity on the web is a myth. How do you think they catch all those child predators?!? This forum could track us all by IP address, however, many IP addresses like mine are dynamic - constantly changing. So the only way they could get me is if they obtain the appropriate records from my Internet service provider, which, last time I checked they need a court order to do. Of course with this Patriot Act and otherwise disregard of the law, who knows?... There goes my anonymity, I guess. ... I'm outed! I have guns!

That's the way I look at it. I am not stupid about it, other than my family there are few people online that know my real name, but I don't really go very far to make myself invisible online. I am anonymous in that nobody really knows my, but that's not so much because I don't want anyone to know who I am, it's because I haven't made it worth anyone's time to find out.
