The list that Gene started and was keeping up went by the wayside for what ever reason, I tried to contact John on the issue but nothing.
Since you are a Moderator maybe you could get it moving again as there is updates as to Yakima County and the issue of prohibition carrying while on snowmobiles is a State Wide Issue which Charles Ross was trying to push forward a bill last year to correct this and he was told it would never get a hearing as a Democrat is in control of moving the bills to a hearing and well you know how that goes until that control is changed.

Then find a democrat to introduce.....

Then find a democrat to introduce.....

Yeah good luck with that! LOL

HB 1400 was written by Rep Charles Ross with Co-Sponsors Blake, Hinkle, Warnick, Takko, Taylor, Shea, Van De Wege, Parker, Chandler, Pearson, Schmick, McCune, Condotta, Kristiansen and from my understanding it goes to the Judiciary Committee where the Chair Determines what bills will be called and this is where we are stalled at.
We currently have a Democrat in that position so it would not matter if I could find another Democrat to introduce it, it still lands upon the Chair Rep. Jamie Pedersen (D) 43rd LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT and from my understanding he has told those introducing it, basically not going to happen.
So until he is moved out of that position, most any pro gun law will not get out of the Judiciary Committee.

Update, I was notified today that the gun lockers are now available for citizens to check their firearms at the Yakima County Jail access to their courts and visiting areas.

Status Confirmed Today 11/16/2011 only information that was taken was name and phone number and I kept the key until finished.
There was no request for ID nor any attempt to disarm or run make model and serial number, all in all it was very professional.

Clallam County Courthouse

Clallam County is in compliance and an easy procedure. With 2 stories and a basement floor of offices, the entire second floor is off limits, including hallways and stairwells (the second floor is the court area). On the first floor is an unmanned area in the reception area of the jail with "airport" lockers. Stick your quarters in, stash your stuff and your good to go with the key in your pocket.

Mason County is also in compliance with a similiar process....

No need to talk to anyone, leave ID or anything

I was basically threatened if I brought my weapon to be secured and would loose any visiting with a family member currently visiting on an extended basis.
It's worth noting that that threat meets the definition of Coercion, under RCW 9A.36.070, which is a gross misdemeanor.

I doubt a threat to revoke visitation privileges rises to the level of "intent immediately to use force", "cause bodily injury", "cause physical damage to property" or "physical confinement or restraint", which is what that statute requires.

What was more satisfying was that the Jail Chief had to retract his position on not providing lock boxes for citizens.

In reference to Mr. Poling’s request we have placed gun lockers for public use in the Main Jail Lobby and in the Home Detention office. The keys to the lockers are available at the officer station in the Main Jail Lobby and at the Home Detention office.

I do not think Himes would have used those exact words!
When I first addressed the issue with him he sent a Sergeant and and Officer to Visiting with a metal wand to ensure no one (me) was carrying a weapon.
I had to laugh as first of all it is not legal to carry into visiting but to the appropriate authorities and second I knew and worked with the Sergeant many years ago when we were Officers together.

Himes lost more then this little dispute at the Jail but also lost some creditability with his employees and administration.

Marysville, Wa fixed their park code in 2010

Snohomish County also in 2010

Everett apparently has complied since 2000

Now if we could just get the Snohomish County Council off their "duffs" and build the Shooting Park they've been talking about for over 20 years.

That is one place where the anti's can cause a bunch of headaches with "noise". I believe that Shagit Co and Sno Co were working on a combined park in the divide between Frailey Mountain and Stimson Hill on some DNR land up there. There is no way anyone on Cavanough could hear what is going on back in there..but they complained and caused delay after delay. Lord, that was years ago.
