Iowan Herr visiting St Louis I'm just wonder what are some good gun shops to visit in the area? And its my understanding this is a class 3 state?

HI,

I actually live in a suburb outside of St. Louis. But I can tell you to search the yellow pages when you come. We have a variety of shops from large retailers like cabalas and Bass Pro shops, Down to little personal gun shops. There is no shortage of shops here. You could not visit them all during your stay unless you stayed a couple weeks. There are hundreds of shops within 1 hour driving distance. I am not sure what Class III is but some shops offer silencers with the correct permits, Short barrel or handgun shot guns, and even a few berets 50 cal for around 7,000.00 are for sale as well. Bring your money and your time and have a blast. Maybe you can even catch many of the gun shows that frequent the area. There are several shops with shooting ranges attached that rent ozi’s.

Just keep in mind, that St. Louis is a "no-carry" area. You cannot legally "open carry" on your person in St. Louis. I don't know about "concealed carry." But, I do know that "open carry" is illegal.

SixGunCowboy, can you ellaborate on where in St. Louis it is illegal? Mo. is a CCW state, you can conceal carry anywhere it is not prohibited by law.

That's why i posted about Mo. being a CCW state, I aked for you to ellaborate on where it is illegal? I guess I took for granted that this is OCDO and thought you would understand. I can try to help but it seems you have attitude toward what I posted, just asked you to ellaborate.

sixgun, you really need to learn your states laws it sounds like.

Also please notice he is talking about St Louis CITY pertaining to OC.

however the OP just stated he wanted info on gun shops, he did not mention anything about carrying of firearms. thread is a little off-track.

That brings up an important point a visitor may not know, if you're in the Independent City of Saint Louis you're no longer in the County of Saint Louis. The Independent City has a full ban on OC, the County just has odd laws making it annoying to attempt to open carry. Either way you're probably better off going with CCW if you have a valid permit.

Now as far as class 3 state, if you're referring to class 3 dealers then yes, MO has those, class 3 only refers to the Special Occupation Tax the dealer must maintain to be a dealer in NFA items. The actual items are referred to as Title 2 or NFA weapons/items, places that deal in them may not make it very well known outside of firearm groups or keep much in stock but they are around.
