Much better solution to the GFZ "schools." Get your children OUT of the marxist/communist indoctrination centers. There are many alternatives.
alternatively, break and change the long standing teaching curriculum(s) in our bastions of higher learning which is turning out the idiots we call teachers; get over the feds 'no child left behind' crap gone as all it has done is spawn the multi-billion dollar secondary testing enterprise; finally ~ the impossible dream ~ get those, superintendents/JQPublic guiding our community's education system out and put 'enlightened' educators into the positions to provide viable resources and such for our most valuable commodity ~ the successors to our civilization, our youth!!

Keep your guns in good repair and have plenty of ammo available. Then maybe we can have Criminal Free Zones (CRZ)

You can't rehabilitate a **** sandwich by scraping the crap off the bread. :) It would be nice to think that the government "schools" could be reformed, but it is simply no more possible than creating a "limited" non-voluntary government. Just having fewer tyrants and fools is not my idea of anything good.

Getting the children OUT of the indoctrination camps immediately holds a great deal more promise, especially for those children now being browbeaten (and drugged) into compliant robots. Do you really think they should wait until you manage to "reform" the **** sandwich?

while i agree, this did not happen over night but generations have allowed the exacerbation of our nation's youth's educational system to become what it is today...so while i agree with your premise of removing the youth out is an option but whose alternative 'camp' are you going to put them in per se?

seems kinda like jumping out from the pot into the blazing fire!

over the years this nation has tried that concept with people of colour, Native Americans, those with physical defects, with mental defects, etc., and i am not sure the 'private' academia is any better, and perhaps worse than public education system.

That is why home schooling is taking hold.

My daughter is considering home schooling (who I never thought would go that route) her seven month old twins.

That's the collectivist answer... I'm not going to "put them in" anything. That is the responsibility of the parents, not mine. If family, neighbors and others want to help voluntarily, that's their business... And I DO support individuals who homeschool, or who seek other ways to educate their children. There are plenty of rational alternatives, and one size does not fit all.

Supporting the government indoctrination camps with stolen "tax" money keeps the scam going. The solution is for those who CARE about the education of their children to take personal responsibility for it, and pay for it. That way they remain in control of what is being taught.

The collectivist answer is always for some people to have control over OTHER people, their children and their property. And that control of others is the root of all evil.

As I’m sure I’ve mentioned before, my wife is a School District Administrator, for the last 6 years. She is constantly saying she has control over 5 percent of her job, the rest is making sure they meet Fed and State mandates. More locally, the School Board really makes the decisions, but the DA is responsible for the daily administration of those decisions. Of course, when it goes south it’s the DA’s fault!

Having said that, plenty easy to find fault all around. Having been involved in 5 different schools I can say with little hesitation that the vast majority ( ok, maybe most) teachers and adminstrators have your children’s best interests at heart. These have been smaller, country setting schools, I’m sure LA, Chicago, Milwaukee, etc are less so, maybe by a lot.

Our last church, about half the kids were home schooled. Some turned out great, some the parents had no business trying to teach anyone anything. We have a couple of K-8 church schools in our community who then go to public schools 9-12. Some kids are rock stars, some not so much. The current trend seems to be tailoring the educational needs of each student to an individual plan, but of course that adds up to a lot of extra money, which nobody wants to put to that cause. Everybody seems to be fighting for an ever shrinking piece of the pie!

Obviously, I’m biased, but I can tell you the solution is not as easy as replacing all the people that don’t think like us, with people that do think like us. In the first place, they don’t exist. If you want to make a change, run for your local school board and get a couple of your like minded friends to run as well. I’ve seen it happen, however in that situation it went from what we as a group would like to see to what you are lamenting. My wife retired for one year, then found a different job as DA at a different school. Those who took over, saw it as an improvement.......

I see tax funded education as immoral. I shouldn't be forced to pay for my neighbor's kids schooling. Besides, I think their main function is social engineering and day care. Not every person is suited or willing to have a classical education. Reading, writing, and arithmetic either private schools, tutors, or parents can teach. After that there are trade schools, and churches and sports leagues and neighborhoods for socialization. A voluntary militia training would also be a good community builder.

How can I trust these people with my children, but not trust them with a gun? I teach the occasional basic shooters class and once word got around to my son's school my class was packed with teachers. Most of these people, at least in my part of Florida, are very pro gun and express a sentiment to carry at school. We have one awesome officer at the school but it blows my mind we only have one solution to protect our children. My bank has more security than my son's school and they have insurance.

It's time for us as Floridians to throw the RINOs out of legislature. We need real change in Florida, and we keep electing people who do nothing year after year. Blocking bill after bill. If this is the way its going to go we might as well elect Democrats.
