Looks like the antis are getting trounced in the comments, and most pro comments are rational, well-reasoned, etc. Let's keep it that way.

On another note, I wonder how to get one of those guest columnist spots?
I wrote a guest response to the Shepherd Express anti-CC poll several weeks ago, but of course they never published it & never wrote me back.

I think she makes a valid case for constitutional carry ... The criminal justice system is so screwed up it would be a waste of time doing background investigations for a permit system.

The truth is that she makes a very strong point. The point is that she wants to see a police state. For some reason that article made me think of the movie Equalibrium, where people were so upset about how bad things had gotten that they just outlawed everything including human emotion.

Kind of sad, but the truth is that people like that will never realize what it means to have the ability to stand and defend themselves until it is far too late.

"My problem with carrying concealed weapons is that the wrong people invariably carry them. Who thinks he or she needs to go to the grocery store with a loaded firearm?"

Because the wrong people are ALREADY carrying concealed weapons. They are called CRIMINALS and they DON'T obey the law. Why is it that people still can't understand that?

Don't forget most of these people have been dropped on their heads as infants or are criminally insane. Reason and logic does not come into play. Realistically all we can ever hope for is to keep the wack-a-doddles at bay. And maybe educate a few healthy citizens along the way. I'm good with that.

. This is particularly true when it comes to domestic abusers, who in 2009 committed 68% of their homicides with firearms. This group is legally permitted to buy, carry and possess weapons

I love this outright lie, domestic abusers are not permitted to buy, carry or possess weapons.

A recent investigation by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel highlighted deferred prosecutions of serious felonies. The process looks most like a sausage machine: What comes out the back end bears no resemblance to the incoming ingredients. Take $120,000 worth of drugs, add a lever-action rifle, $8,000 cash, stir, wait a year and poof! Magic! The true felony nature of what occurred is hidden from the permitting process.

Wow....someone is smokin some really good sh+t,and is really out of touch with reality.

How many drug dealers do you know would hide behind a Win. Model 94 ??

A modified Uzi or Mac10 maybe.....but a lever action ??

Are we supposed to believe drug dealers have taken up cowboy action shoots on the side, too ??

If any author is gonna force feed us such a clear line of BS,I feel they have an obligation to at least share what ever dope their smokin.

I'm not sure I could even insult the author more than they already did themselves by writing that crap! **Yawn**Just another last ditch effort by the anti's as 2011 aproaches. The S.S. Anti has sunk, their just too ignorant to take notice.

If they've been convicted. Until then, they're as free as the rest of us.

Waaaay too many never get arrested, let alone charged, let alone convicted.
And even after conviction, there are many who will ignore the law so they can control their object (wife, girlfriend, etc.)

Darn good reason that anyone who has a restraining order or order of protection should automatically & immediately get a CC license (in states that require them) AND several hours of instruction on the police range, by the person who trains police. The choice of gun would be up to her, though.

Normally articles such as this I take with a grain of salt and ignore them as someone trying to make a point without knowing the facts. This article was about as bad as any I have read that there was really no point to it and no logic either way, just a lot of rambling and waste of bandwidth, probably like most of my posts. The only thing I got out of it was for some reason she doesn't lile CC for some unknown reason.

WCI should DEMAND a retraction on statements like this from the Journal.

There are some great comments about that article on the JS site,. I think Nancy (the Author) must be feeling a little stupid right about now after reading the comments.

Does anyone think she took the several statement to heart where people stated "Criminals already carry concealed firearms and use them against us"

???

No.

The main fault of rational people is that they (unknowingly and innocently) expect rational behavior from irrational people.

Hit it with whatever you want but that square peg ain't goin' in the round hole.

But, these are the Ignorant liberal Morons we are up against ! Some of these Morons are law makers ( from the Madison & Milwaukee area's ) They are same clueless, sheeple Zombies that think the police will magically show up when they are getting beaten, robbed, raped & or killed somewhere. Some people are just too stupid to live.
