Leaving out the argument about whether or not sexual orientation is a choice, would any of you agree to this:

1. There are two aspects of "marriage". One is a civil contract in which religious authorities have no business interfering. The other is a religious sacrament in which the government has no business interfering.

2. Two adults, of whatever gender, should have the right, and I stress "right", to enter into a binding civil contract as long as neither is disqualified by mental capacity.

3. Religious bodies should have exclusive right to perform religious ceremonies without having to obtain "permission" (a marriage license) from the government. It should also be their right to perform, or not to perform, same-sex unions.

4. The LGBT community is, IMNSHO, shooting themselves in the foot by insisting on the term "marriage" instead of arguing the "civil contract" view.

5. Just out of curiosity, do not the laws banning same-sex unions violate the First Amendment?

For the record: The above was written by a somewhat elderly, caucasian, hetero male from deep in the Bible Belt.

No jump. He said "we're superior to other sexualities". If anyone's starting sh*t it's you. I didn't take it as starting anything. It's just more evidence of the progressive mentality.

...But if you need to "break out the hard-core dyke attitude". Well, break it out. ;)

Here I come, mullet, and all!

I disagree with "if it's a Choice, some individuals believe that you ought not be permitted to make that choice." I say that if it's a choice then there's a right one and a wrong one. It is the right of the individual to make the choice.

I agree, there is a Right choice, and a Wrong choice. Personally, I think it's the Right choice to love on a sexy female--don't you think it's Right to love on a sexy female?
