Skatepark carry?

I do not skateboard myself, but I do ride bikes sometimes at these skateparks where we are not always "welcome" to their crowd.....and I'm sure you older folks with kids have heard some of the things that "go down" there. I am just curious if you are aloud to carry there. Open or concealed doesn't matter. I personally at most carry one in a pocket, but being how the park rangers are for some reason really anal I am unsure of this.

Anyone got any RCW's or at least a piece of mind on this?

If it's city/county/other public property, you cannot be prohibited from carrying there. The RCW's are pretty specific on where you legally can't carry, basically jails, courthouses, insane asylums, etc. Anywhere else on public property you are within your rights. Private property can ask you to leave for any reason what so ever, including because you have a gun. If you refuse you'll be charged with trespassing, but nothing gun-related. That's pretty much the whole "Where can I carry in WA?" answer in a nutshell, someone better will chime in shortly if I'm off base on anything. CC or OC is up to you.

That being said, someplace like that you can expect flak for OCing. After all, there are CHILDREN around! :what:

You would seriously be surprised. I would be worried more about the tough guy that thinks he is gonna beat someone up that has a gun. 90% or more of the children there, NEVER have any supervision. I have made many a call to 911, because no one else would or was available.

Heh, yeah I know the type. I get these lil proto-felon punks on my bus from time to time. Some fool kid wants to bring fists to a gunfight? Oh well, aggravated battery is a felony, so you'd be within your rights to use force to defend yourself.

Ya I agree whole heartedly, but I can't pass up a fistfight....it's the knife after words that makes me pack while there.

Not wise to get into a fistfight while carrying a gun... you may find yourself no longer carrying it. Best to just diffuse the situation. After all what do you need to prove? YOU'RE the guy with the gun :p

You miss read that, or I said it wrong, but what I mean is..I wouldn't pass up a fight, but now days someone wants to bring a knife or even a gun. I do not/have not open carry in parks. I either leave mine in the car or use the wifes revolver in my pocket.

I think I messed things up and you are speaking of someone picking a fight with someone because they do have a gun, such as said before. I apologize, I am very tired.

I sometimes take my two boys to the skatepark near my house. I OC every time I go there. I've seen drug deals go down there. I 've had a couple of conversations, with older guys skating or riding their bikes there, about open carry. One of the guys once said that I was making a few of the other skaters nervous. So I told him that I was one of the good guys, just watching my kids skate and that if I really wanted to shoot the place up, wouldn't I have done it already?

The drug dealers don't like it when I show up. People who do bad things don't like it when others shine a light on what they are doing...

Very true. And if you are talking about the kenewick(I think) skatepark that is in or near Kent....you have every reason to carry at that place. Same for the one a few miles away.

Aaron and Metal, fistfight all you like--just don't think you'll have an easy time claiming self-defense if things turn serious.
It's been serious to me for four years now. In my kind of fighting, one couldn't make self defense claim.

:banghead: People that enjoy fighting (and I am presuming not of the "in the ring" variety) are morons with that should not be carrying firearms. This is serious business, and they need to grow up and remember that we firearms carriers need to maintain a higher standard of behaviour.

I have been in one 'fight' in my life. In 3th grade a friend and I had an argument at school. We were both using the restroom outside of the classroom. He was bigger than me, he took a swing at me and I ducked. I hit him in the gut and walked back into class. Never another word was said about the 'fight.' We have been best friends for 33 years.

I agree. There is absolutely nothing that can be gained in voluntarily participating in a non sanctioned or non organized fight outside of the ring or cage. You'll either end up facing criminal charges, getting sued, in the hospital, or worst of all, in the cemetery or the crematory.

LOL I read that as "I have been in one 'fight' for my life." And continued reading. I was like "WTH?" but then I looked back on it and noticed what it actually said

No you need to remember that a firearm is not your only choice for defense. I remember the days being younger when you would solve a dispute with a fistfight(If it came down to it), then after wards it usually ended in a handshake. I'm really tired of people thinking that because you have a firearm you must completely change your life and become some timid coward only to fire at someone in a last resort. I may be a moron, but at least I keep my head held high with at least some respect. I am not a coward behind the gun....it's there for when I am outmatched...period.

Secondly...if I can take someone down with my fists rather than deadly force....isn't that smarter? I may be a moron, but you are an idiot and need to grow a pair.

With that said, I don't wanna argue with anyone about this.
