Okay, why are you mad at us?

Over 500 comments already on that linked story.

Why do we seek to make sense of the nonsensical? My guess is a butt hurt former member who got banned when they went off the deep end. Fill out a hurt feelings report and get to the back of the line.

According to http://elections.wispolitics.com/ all of the recalls would occur 7/12.

I could be wrong, but I watched this case in the Dane County Court and I remember the judge allowing GAB to group Kapanke with the later two, but the other six were tooo far out to push the Kapanke election back farther yet. I will have to watch it again.

UPDATE: I was wrong.

Depends

The election are to be held July 12th. When they would take office, I do not know. It would not be immediately, I do know that.

There is a possibility that the Republicans pick up a seat as well.

If July 12th is a primary, the election will be held August 9th. If the incumbent doesn't win he continues in the office until the new person receives a certificate of election, must be within 10 days I believe. So if July 12th is the actual election, no later than July 22nd. If August 9th is the actual election then no later than August 19th. Now if a party wanted to be sneaky, it would encourage a primary challenger to their opponent. If nothing else it would delay a changeover by 4 weeks.

said that without training, a WI permit would not be valid in Iowa - because they're "tough." I was under the impression that IA accepted all permits now. What is the reality?

Been paying attention to this. Would be nice to not have to disarm every time I cross the river. Iowa is not "Tough". Iowa has one of the best cc laws in the county. Iowa will recogonize ANY other states permit.

IF you guys get a permit system, whether mandatory or optional, the permit will be valid at a minimum in the following states, regardless of training or background check: Alaska, Arizona, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, and Vermont. These are the states that honor any states permits. In addition, there are others, like Colorado, where as long as WI honors their permit, a WI permit would automatically be honored in Colorado with no further action taken. New Hampshire will recognize any permit, so long as the other state honors theirs, but they need to have a reciprocity agreement among them, but training/background checks isn't a disqualifying issue.

This is true to the best of my knowledge. Iowa does not require training for the permits it recognizes.

Iowa law allows for lawful open carry outside city limits. Carrying a loaded and "accessible" firearm inside city limits or in your vehicle requires a permit to carry. What makes a weapon "accessible" is defined in law and can get complicated. It's not a concealed carry permit as the same permit is required to carry openly or concealed in a city or in a vehicle.

Open or concealed carry on private property does not require a permit, only the permission of the land owner.

The weapons laws in Iowa are under Iowa Code Chapter 724. Recent changes to how one gets to the official Iowa Code website makes it difficult to provide a direct link. IowaCarry was kind enough to gather some reference material here: http://www.iowacarry.org/iclaw.php
