A one vote defeat by a senator who voted for before he voted against it. Put it on the calendar and let the politicians go on record with their vote.

Honestly guys, slow it down a bit. What's up first are appropriation bills, not legislative fluff. If the legislature wants to concentrate on appropriations first, I think that's a good call. A lot of other bills that I think will be up for an override aren't in there. Just write your legislators and keep the premature complaining to a minimum please.

We are talking about a calendar, a electronic calenard at that! Put them all on there, in any order they please.

Sure, but I've been watching calendars since they've had a website. While they could do it as you propose, they never have and are unlikely to change for SB656. It just how the game is played and there's not much we can do to change it.

IIRC, even last year, the bill was not on the calendar; however, they did get to it, later in the first day (Rally Day...last time I shaken Marc's hand and promised to buy him a cup of coffee this past spring.) Also, the Senate took it up that evening, after the House passed it. That's where it failed.

I agree with KC, keep it in front of your legislators, maybe suggest they put it on the calendar. I don't think it would be a bad idea to ask Dempsy or Jones if/when they tentatively will bring it up. However, making it a point of contention wouldn't be appropriate.

I know at the rally a couple of weeks ago, both Brian and Paul indicated it will be brought up.

Vetoed bills must first be reconsidered in the house in which they originated. SB656 must first be reconsidered in the Senate. Can you please link the Senate Calendar for the Veto Session? I cannot find the veto session calendar for the Senate. I can only find the House of Representatives' calendar for the veto session; SB656 would not be on it until considered and the veto overridden by the Senate.

To be honest, we don't know yet. The hope is that the legislature will bring the state laws in accordance with it. But that won't be until next year at the earliest. As far as I know, nobody is pushing from a courthouse side of the law.

My understanding is Amendment 5 is now law? What does this do for open carry? If anything.

Does anyone else agree or think that its possible Amendment 5 will open up the possibility for MO to become a Constitutional Carry State like Arizona or Alaska?

For OCing.....probably...but it will take some time. CCW...not sure about that one. My gut says no....but that doesn't mean I'm right.

Well, there is still no calendar for the Senate posted, but don't fret, they have over 4 hours before the session starts.

August 28th

When the Legislature overrides the Governor's veto today or tomorrow(positive thinking) SB656 will become law as of August 28th 2014....is that correct?

No, the statute is effective when the override is successful, because the override session happens after the effective date of the original statute.

So far, it's just delay tactics by Democrats. The longer I listen, the dumber I get.
