Never thought twice about it until I was at the Nation's Gun Show this weekend in the Ole Dominion, and I saw a sticker on some of the cases "No shell casing included per MD, NY Law"
Apparently some states require the first shell casing fired, in a factory-sealed envelope. I suppose it's of value to keep if you're ever wanting to re-sell the firearm in the future, as the envelopes are date stamped. This would be rough proof of the firearm's age.
Do you see any value in keeping the shell casing? This is assuming you don't live in one of the socialist states (MD, NY) where it's required anyway...
