There are very simple facts at play here: Not your website. Owners trust moderators. Done.

QUITE to the contrary, this was handled extremely generously, a necroposter revived massively old posts in an apparent attempt to drive traffic to poster's website.

Moderator, realizing a PATTERN (which YOU MISSED) gave poster the benefit of the doubt, even suggesting actions that would increase his chance of achieving trust among the readers.

You think you get that courtesy and benefit of the doubt towards spammers on any other board? Not a chance.
