I renew my suggestion:

It seems this thread has a lot of testosterone in it -- maybe we should lock it:confused::question:

:shocker:  :cuss: :banghead:
Well, it is an OT thread, but I'd rather see people get their gripes out in this, than in a thread more related to OC. Besides, I wouldn't want to "arbitrarily" close a thread that might generate more examples of such fine discussion. ;) Frankly, I think I'll leave this one up to someone else.

I tried to create an "I hate stainless" thread... not because I hate stainless... but because I was hoping that it could be a catch all for all the bullcrap and keep the other threads from being shut down prematurely because of the bickering... of course, my thread was deleted.... *sigh

Maybe if you called it "OT I Hate -------" with no name, just dashes, then maybe it wouldn't get deleted.

why don't the owners just sack up and do what needs to be done? 90% of the BS in the MI forum is because of 1 person. And most of the derailed threads are because 2 other people insist on going after him in every thread. adding more mods was not what needed to be done, and i'm not sure why you guys won't just do what needs to be done. you are letting the MI forum go to crap all because you would rather have page hits that eliminating the problems.

Banning people is only a temporary measure. I seriously doubt it would "fix" the problem. I think we all know from past experience, if you ban someone who really wants to be here, they'll come back under a different user name. It's happened before, it will happen again.

The trick is in convincing the people to whom you're referring, to change their attitudes. And that is never easy. All we can do for now, is hope for the best, and try to catch the really nasty posts before it goes too far. Maybe, after they've had some of their messages deleted, they'll get the message that they need to tone it down.

Or, maybe the admin will get tired of it all and ban those people. I don't know. All I can think of, are the words of the late Rodney King, "Can't we all just get along?"

I see your point, but even someone like pat only comes back every now and then since he was banned. If he hadn't been banned he would probably be on here every day doing it, so it did help cut down on the BS imo. We all know what the problems are, it just seems easier to eliminate them than to keep on dealing with them.

If you had a friend or acquaintance who wanted to learn more about OC, would you really recommended they come here with all this going on? Seems like it would just be a turn off to anyone not familiar with the particulars of what is happening. I'm embarrassed to tell new people to come here right now with the way it has been, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way. How many good people are we going to run off before we correct the problem.

ETA- and imo once you start suggesting unlawful activities that should be a ban anyways, we are trying to present a law abiding image to anyone viewing this forum, that last thing we need is a news report about how one of us is suggesting unlawful activities because they don't agree with the law.

Even though your trolling I'll bite. What didnt you two best buds like about that thread. The pic or the story?

I stated a fact. You chose how you responded and you picked the wrong door.

I find that most here accentuate the positive - a few don't. What a waste.

Out of stater chiming in.

What's the big deal? I am never emotionally attached to any particular thread, especially the thread(s) I initiate.

And lastly, to those who expect certain posters to have "tact and professionalism", you are likely to be continually disappointed.

I am one of "those" who expect the leadership of organizations that represent me to be able to behave in an adult professional manner and refrain from taking juvenile pot-shots at people. And yes I was continually disappointed which is one of the reasons I chose to not renew my membership to MOC when it expired and will not renew until the current leadership can tone it down or changes. Which is sad really because I like what MOC is doing and planning on doing in Lansing.

If you feel so strongly about certain people who hold certain positions posting in a certain manner...maybe you should hold those positions so you can control how professional they are perceived.

Can't, I'm no longer a member. Besides I'm much too sarcastic and assholey...which makes me an inappropriate candidate.

What you don't seem to want to accept is that once somebody accepts a leadership position they cease to have the ability to have personal opinions that get voiced in public. Everything that comes out of their mouth or comes from their keyboard will be associated with the organization they represent. It doesn't matter how many times they say "this is just my personal opinion" it will be associated with their organization and the orgs members and I am not interested in being associated with an org. that has leaders that don't have the maturity to stop themselves from taking sophmoric jabs at people.

Just let it go. If someone posts something against the rules or advocating illegal behavior by all means report that person to the mods and let them deal with it, but leave the gradeschool crap on the playground.
