Interesting encounter yesterday. An associate of a business nearby came to my work space to talk about some mutual arrangements for the next few days. He brought some items over to leave. We talked and walked around for several minutes. Suddenly he stopped mid sentence and said, "your carrying!" Apparently he had not noticed before then. He thought it was great that I carried, as he was prohibited at his work place. We talked carry for a while and went back to business.

I love that sudden gasp that people do when they see you on a regular basis and then just one day they finally notice you carry. Happened to me not to long ago at a restaurant I go to at least 3-4 times a week. The girl was on the other side of the counter cleaning and said, "you have a gun???" And I just laughed and said, you never noticed, I've had it every time for the last 2 months out in the open.

Yesterday I was in wal-mart and I guy ran up to me to let me know I was the first person he say open carrying. He told me that he is waiting on his license but was not sure if he would OC or CC but now decided to OC since he seen me doing such. We talked for a few and went about our ways.
Today I was talking to an animal control officer, and when he realized I was carrying, after standing on my strong side for about ten minutes was excited to see. He told me that he plans on taking his class soon and even though he can not carry on the job he will open carry every where else.
I told both people about OKOCA and invited them both to check it out. They said they would. I hope they do.

The CVS Pharmacy in Owasso had "no guns" signs up for a while but took them down very quickly.

Promenade Mall in Tulsa doesn't have "no guns" signs on the doors, but buried in their "Standards of Conduct" signs on the walls to the side of the entrances it says no guns even if you're licensed. I haven't tried open carry there.

The CVS's that I have seen simply moved their sign from the middle of the entrance doors to the bottom of the window next to the door and printed in on white instead of yellow. This way it gets lost in the shuffle. The managers probably don't care but they are still following corporate policy and if anything ever comes up, they can say they were posted.

The manager of that store told me they were posting No Open Carry. I can't go there myself because of all the peanuts. Did they remove signage altogether?

I didn't see any signs at all on either set of entry doors or around the front counter area. Sorry it ha taken so long to reply.

3/8 stopped by the Valero/McDonalds at 240/Sooner. I never went in as a blind man could see the huge signs posted on all the doors that said no weapons of any kind allowed. The signs must have been 12"x18". Didn't have my phone or would have taken pic. Will never visit that place for any reason.

3/8 OC'd to Santa Fe on 29th across from Tinker. No looks that I noticed from anyone. Even had a girl selling GS cookies standing at are table with her parents on my strong side and they either didn't see it or didn't care. The Colt Ford burger is nasty so avoid it.

I've OC'ed at that same Santa Fe many times. I usually go there every Sunday night for dinner. No crowd as it is close to closing time. No crowd, no one notices OC. But I still use an IWB holster and mag holder for OC. So half the gun and holster is out of sight anyways.

Went to Applebee's on Air Depot in Mid Weat City to celebrate my promotion at work yesterday. Had on my Kimber compact 1911. No one even noticed and for a change (eating out) the food was fantastic. One of the waitresses even brought me a beer and said someone had gotten it for me. I told her to tell the person thank you but I wasn't drinking anything other than sweet tea. Never did find out who paid for it as no one at my table was drinking. Now when I got home I had a few sips of some apple pie shine.

Few places I've been in the last week:

Coolgreens in Edmond - no issues

On Cue - 7:30 rush - got more stares from a lady I work with than anyone else. The person I work with knows I carry, but this is the first time she has actually seen me open carry since I can't OC at work.

Full Cup - no issues, passed a guy on my way in and he kind of did a double take.

Did my first open carry tonight. Got my License in Jan and have cc'd several times. Went to Love's (89th and I35), no one seemed to notice. Then on to Wal-mart (Santa Fe and 240) one lady had a puzzled look but quickly looked away when she saw I noticed.

Over all it was pretty awesome.

Today, a 3 or 4 year old little boy noticed my OC'd Springfield and loudly announced to his dad, "Dad! Dad! That man has a gun! Why does he have a gun?" His dad looked at me and back to the kid and was clearly at a loss for an answer. Without getting any closer, I squatted down to the child's level and said "Young man, if there ever is a bad man with a gun, the best way to stop him is a good man with a gun." He said, "Is that why police carry a gun?" "Yes, it's exactly the same reason." The kid went off with his dad, very happy with that answer.

Nice response and I'm sure the dad felt a bit relieved not having to answer that question.

I live in Denison Texas, 5 miles South of The Red River and my Texas CHL arrived today. I am considering driving up to the Durant Wall-Mart tomorrow to get a taste of the open carry experience. Anyone aware of any issues with this?

Wal-mart is carry friendly, shouldn't have an issue at all as long as you are familiar with OK law and follow it.

Sounds fine, I don't have much to do up there. So I assume all "gun buster" signs have the force of law, unlike the Texas 30.06 signs compared to unenforceable no gun signs (in Tx). I don't drink or gamble so I won't be visiting any bars or casinos. Anything else of obvious concern?

Oklahoma is a shall notify state if you happen to get pulled over by an officer. Other than that, should be an issue for you.

I was on the NW side of town last week around 122nd and MacArthur and Rockwell area wanting to stop at a convenient store to pick up a late quick breakfast and lo and behold all of them were posted with gun buster signs. The circle K / Conoco, on MacArthur and 122nd the Valero on MacArthur and the Kilpatrick turnpike, the ConocoPhillips on 122nd and Rockwell, of corse 7Elevens two of them on Rockwell. Went all the way to a Shell just west of Rockwell on NW Expressway before I found a store without gun buster signs :banghead: is that side of town really that safe or on the contrary so full of lawful crazy gun owners that none of the convenient stores allow for lawful carry :cuss:!!!

I have OC'd at that WalMart many times. No issues at all, other than some young boys getting an eye level view of my Glock. I think it made their day.

Never seen a Valero that wasn't plastered in big gun buster signs.

On a lighter note I saw my first 2 OC'rs today at work. Had two different customers come in and was thrilled to see them OCing. Struck up some conversations on guns and OC. One of the guys had never heard of this site until I told him. The other had and lurks from time to time. Told them they were welcome back OC or not anytime.
