This is what happens when cops play cops-and-robbers for themselves disconnected from why they are supposed to be playing the game.

Any citizen who made a "furtive" movement could well have been shot dead--and we all know the [STRIKE]shooter[/STRIKE] cop would have been let off scott-free as "justified" by his need to make a so-called "split-second" decision. A tragic--but justifiable--accident is how it would be characterized by government and press. This was about as unsafe an incident as possible.

There is no reason whatever the robber could not have been pursued as usual through investigation and normal police work, rather ther than endangering numerous citizens.

And, this doesn't even take into account whether someone might have had a large dog in his car. Anybody want to take bets whether the cops woulda shot an aggressive dog which was merely defending its owner or owner's child? Lotsa dogs killed by police. Google the word "puppycide." (no joke)

When cops play cops-and-robbers with utter disregard for the safety of the people they are supposed to be protecting, you know they want to play cops-and-robbers for their own sake rather than ours.

Here's an even more powerful image. Note the victim's obvious youth. Note the handgun being pointed from around the side of the ballistic shield. Yes, readers. Those are Amerikan cops.

Reporter: What if he'd opened fire with all those people at the scene?
Police: Well, my understanding of the tactics used at the scene led me to believe it was extremely well done.

Imagine his answer if any of the scenarios you described had happened! :banghead:
