Planning a trip down from Nevada

Looks like I will be hitting OKC and Tulsa near the end of October. Am I correct in understanding your state recognizes all concealed permits but I will not be allowed to OC?

Any good places I should check out while I am in the area?

Yeah, Oklahoma honors every state's permits. And we go open carry (with your permit) on Nov 1st. Some one correct me if I'm wrong, but I *THINK* that Oklahoma is supposed to honor open carry if your home state has open carry without a permit (constitutional carry).

At the moment it looks like after Nov 1, we will honor the 4 constitutional carry states drivers licenses as permits. If you reside in a state that issues CC permits but not OC permits, then it looks like you would need to get your states CC permit to carry in OK.

There's one thing that keeps popping up in the law that bugs me. It keeps saying "and whose names appear on a list." If my home state, Texas, where I'm licensed, does not have OC will I be legally able to OC in Oklahoma after November 1? I know, of course, OK and TX have reciprocity, but this little phrase keeps creeping into the back of my head. My name will not be on any list in Oklahoma.

So, now, what constitutes "contact" with a LEO? Is it if and when I'm asked for ID or does being in the same line at Subway constitute "contact?" Common sense would say, no, but just thought I'd ask.

Currently, "first contact" means as soon as the officer walks up to you, keep in mind this is only for any arrest, detainment or routine traffic stop.

As of Nov 1, this will change to "first opportunity", so when the officer approaches and you try and notify and they tell you to be quiet, you can wait until they ask you to speak and then inform them without fear of violating the law.

After Nov 1, anyone with a CC permit from any state Oklahoma has reciprocity with, will be able to OC in Oklahoma.

Even though there is no reciprocal agreement between the states, Oklahoma will honor the Nevada CC Permit. So if you have a NV CC Permit, you would be able to OC after Nov 1. Oklahoma honors all other states permits.

Sounds like it means "official" contact and not just casual. Excellent!

Actually, it's a little more restrictive than that. Oklahoma law requires the situation to be an arrest, detainment or traffic stop before the requirement to notify comes into play.

First thing you need to do: When you leave NV...forget everything you think you know about firearm law...you are no longer in NV.

Whatever state you enter...that is the law you need to know. What NV says you can or cannot do means nothing, except in NV, and EVERY state is different.

Thanks for the link! Main differences I noticed are signage and and not carrying in a business that primarily deals with alcohol. On the plus side I also downloaded a copy of the self defense act and I will be with a liscensed concealed carry and pro OC person while im there.
