What we're talking about here is weapons that are owned by American Citizens. You may know an American that owns a nuclear weapon...I don't.

By implication, in your response, you are acknowledging that a knife is less lethal than a handgun...are you sure you want to do that?

Let's stick to comparing similar attacks, and the tools used during those attacks. What is the likelihood the student at that High School, if he had a handgun, would have killed at least one of those twenty? What I'm stating here is if he had a handgun, and shot twenty people, instead of stabbed twenty people...we would have a higher body count than 0. We have a perfect example from Sandy Hook; a perfect contrast. About the same body count...different tools used. Would we be talking about 20 dead children, and 8 dead adults if Lansa (however his name is spelled) had a knife, instead of a handgun?

I'm waiting for someone to link us up to the Chinaman that stabbed 20 some-odd kids to death.

A handgun, for a Fact, is more efficient at killing. A handgun offers a greater efficiency of killing than a knife. Come on now, most people on here argue this point all the time...they ought to be able to carry a handgun for self-defense because it is a Better Tool for self-defense, as it compares to say, a knife.

A Handgun is also more efficient at stopping an attacker than a knife as well. Stopping power and lethality follow the same curve as both depend on the same factors. Its a matter of the intent of the person.

Regarding another point you made - speach is arguably the most deadly since it is ideas and philosophy that drive the genocides that killed more people last century (notably in places they were disarmed) than any other cause. The exact means of their deaths varied.

Speaking of intent, by reading your signature I see you are a troll that is not here for any constructive purpose. Buh bye.

You just acknowledged that a knife, and a handgun are not equally deadly. I agree with you.

The old "a car is just as deadly in the wrong hands," argument. Give me a freaking break, please...let's take this a bit further than: The RKBA is a Privilege, and not outlined in the Constitution as a Constitutional Right for Citizens...as with cars.

Cars are designed for getting Things from point A to point B. Knives are typically designed for some form of preparation, mainly food. Firearms are designed exclusively for Killing. You can cut a sandwich with a knife; drive to your local grocer to pick up eggs, in your car; but a firearm, it's use has everything to do with killing...or the training to kill.

Now I know someone is going to pull target shooting out their butt, and claim it is merely done in sport, that target shooting is benign. WRONG. There is nothing benign about training to use your firearm more effectively, since the inherent purpose of a firearm is to kill.

Next, someone is going to assert that Speech is just as deadly as a Firearm.

Who will They blame for this stabbing: Hopefully Republicans.

You are wrong. I happen to use my firearms primarily for paper weights, napkin holders, and book ends. The whole killing and self-defense thing just comes in handy in case I ever needed to defend my life.

I think you've overlooked that a firearm can also be used as deterrence. So your statement that their only purpose is killing is inaccurate. It also happens to be inflammatory, degrading, and insulting, which fits your style of communication.

The presence of a firearm in the hands of a competent operator at the school while the person was on a knife-wielding rampage may have resulted in fewer injuries. It's entirely possible that the mere sight of a gun pointed at him would have stopped the entire episode, with no shooting involved. After all, everyone knows that a gun is more deadly than a knife, and that works in the favor of anyone that enters a knife fight armed with a firearm.

Ok but they are not equal. If you need to take a horrible marksman and a ninja to make the same.result.then obviously one is easier to kill with.

I missed the part of the story were the 16 year old perp was a card carrying ninja...please cite for me.

Point in fact: The shooter at Ft. Hood put the gun to his head and pulled the trigger only after he was confronted by someone else with a gun. If he hadn't been confronted in the parking lot by the officer he more than likely would have kept shooting at people.

 RKBA a privilege? Even the wording of the 2A clearly shows it is not.

Knives and guns and fists are all lethal tools, some work better than others. It is quite silly to blame the object for the crimes of an individual.

You, and I have been over this a thousand times over the years...the end result has always been that you are wrong, and I am Right

Yes, all of those items are lethal tools. Yes, it is silly to blame the object for the crime.

:shocker: Someone with a sense of humor! I used to use mine for those things as well. AK-47 makes an excellent coat rack.

I thought Grape, or one of the other mods banned "liberella the goofy"

You have no idea what it takes to get banned on OC.

Back to the OT, though: They will not blame knives. Hopefully, if we're all lucky, Republicans will be blamed by the Liberal Media Bias Machine.

A knife or a handgun can be just as deadly depending on the person using the device. Someone can shoot 1000 rounds and not hit anything but a 16 year old with two kitchen knifes can wound 21 people. Both are equal on killing power depending on who's hands they are in.SNIP...

You just acknowledged that a knife, and a handgun are not equally deadly. I agree with you. SNIP...

Yes, I will say that a firearm is deadlier than a knife wielded by the same person. What do I mean by this? An elderly woman is more likely to successfully defend herself from a would-be assailant using a gun than if she were to use a knife. Likewise, a small-framed individual, a disabled person, a weak-bodied person, a muscle-atrophied person, etc.

The reason guns are good for a society is because they level the playing field for people of different sizes, strengths, physical abilities, economic status, etc.

If you were to, hypothetically, remove guns from society:

You'd disenfranchise the physically weak, the smaller-framed, the elderly, the disabled, the poor (who can't afford bodyguards), the few, etc.
You'd empower the physically strong, the larger-framed individuals, the rich (who can hire security), the numerous, etc.

In short: guns do more for empowering women, the poor (oftentimes minorities), the elderly, etc.

So yes, guns ARE more deadly, relative to knives and any other weapon that can be wielded by an individual, which is why they are necessary for a society to be civilized.

This I have to hear. How are Republicans deserving of blame for the stabbing? I'll get my popcorn ready.

Be careful there...

You are correct, it was a person choice of mine to no longer own firearms.

I heard rumors that the new iPhone 6 will have a built-in pistol ... you should get one of those.

Or the new 50 BMG pistol , sure to build up your arm muscles (or tear them out completely)...

Do you just borrow guns now instead of owning?
