I drive and talk on the phone, no accidents. In Idaho driving while talking on the phone is covered under their inattentive driving laws. Meaning if you crash or cause a traffic hazard because of your inability to multitask, you get the inattentive driving or even reckless driving citation. IMO Washington should have looked across the border and come up with a law similar or if one is already on the books made use of it instead of giving the cops something else to pull you over for when they could be enforcing laws that have a purpose.

with one of these jammers, which I AM going to buy, you can jam the cops BSing on the phone while driving, if you want to. (( dang it, another dropped call, POS phone ))) ...LOL

..and commit a felony, with a 10K$ fine... PER USE.... (and confiscation of equipment)

Those jammers don't just interfere with cellphones.. they can jam 800 mhz trunked public safety systems... JUST like Pierce and king county have...

Just to play devils advocate here there was an episode of Effin Science that tested the drunk/texting driving conundrum. They actually discovered that DD is LESS hazardous than texting. Not sure what episode it was but it was just on a few nights ago....

Just remember that "less hazardous" doesn't mean "not hazardous". I imagine driving drunk is less hazardous than shooting yourself in the head, but I still wouldn't want to do it.

There is a problem when officers are sworn to uphold the law when they themselves live outside of it. Law enforcement officers should not be exempt from the law. Period. AS far as this topic goes...using a radio is understandable....using a phone not so much, but not a big deal, but it is only 1 of MANY laws broken everyday by police. Of course officers will always get away with what they want. Not to mention the people that have been murdered by police in Snohomish County within the last few years. I mean no disrespect to any honest LEO. Not all are "bad apples". Just seems like around here they can and do what they want.

That's cool. I mean no disrespect by questioning. A friendly heads up though. Not that there is anything wrong with posting quotes' in German. But sometimes racists use white power Nazi quotes and try to slip it in on people on different boards. Someone might mistakenly assume you are a racist if you have a bunch of German jargon at the end of your post.

If someone's going to think I'm a nazi because of a little German (which in its self is a racist idea), that's just the kind of ignorant fool I like to piss off anyway. Besides, if anything, Ramms+ein are a bunch of commies, not nazis...

Maybe you got lucky *that time* (however many times) with your talking, reading, and driving, but every single time YOU ENDANGERED SOMEONE ELSE. Whether you want to acknowledge that fact or not is irrelevant. Plenty of people are dead today because the distracted fool behind the wheel didn't get lucky that time. By your (and Deanf's) reasoning it's perfectly acceptable to stand on a street corner and shoot your gun in random directions, just as long as you don't hit anyone this time. I didn't say the new law was perfect, but it's a step in the right direction, and it's better than nothing. At least now there will be some enforcement.

"The human brain is barely capable of operating a vehicle at highway speeds with NO distractions."

Neither false nor ridiculous, simple evolutionary fact. I read this a long time ago (sorry, I don't keep a journal of everything I read to cite it to off-topic internet forum threads). The human brain evolved to process information at walking or running speeds. And since we've only been exceeding those speeds en mass without intelligent assistance* for less than a hundred years, evolution has hardly had a chance to catch up.

*horses are generally smart enough not to run into things at full gallop.

You have not been around horses very much when they spook they will run into all kinds of things at full speed been there done that got the lumps from the horse wreaks to prove it.

I must have ridden some "generally" stupid horses, then.

:banghead:

I dunno about stupid, but they must have been "generally" skittish if they lived their entire lives in a perpetual state of spooked-ness. Must've been hard on their ol' horsey hearts. My impression is that the default state of existence for a horse (or anything else conscious...except maybe ginea pigs) is "not-spooked."

Here is what you are missing...

They are upholding the law, it is legal for LEO to talk on the phone. The law says that they can. Your beef is with the legislature for the exemptions.

I missed the exception. My mistake. Good catch. I am so use to other states having no exception. Anyways, they still shouldn't be allowed to do it here either. An example of what I see on a daily basis, for shits and giggles.

Point still stands though. Secondly...I have no "beef". They still break laws. I have learned to not trust them, therefore I stay away and don't worry about it.

Well, I guess I get to speak from experience here. And not in a good way. Ive had the luck of being hit by TWO separate drivers while on foot. In both cases the drivers were on the phone. Not texting though. (thank god) The other time I had a texting girl hit me as I walked my bike across a crosswalk in front of WCC between the roundabouts. She was the worst as she was texting. She never stopped either. Thankfully I wasnt hurt beyond light scratches / bruises. Guess I have some crazy luck. Better yet, my bike only got a few paint dings.

Now that I drive across the state on a truck route I see a lot of morons. I just wish they'd rig up a chemical or something to mix into the soundproofing of cars to kill cell signals and make it mandatory for new production.

I've had similar luck, and the rate of occurrence has only increased after moving. When I was a sophomore at Western, I was either hit or nearly hit three times while on my bike or on foot; twice crossing Bill McDonald at BT to get onto College Dr or whatever that street is and once crossing near the rec center. Now that I've moved to the north end of Bellingham, I have to cross Meridian at Westerly in order to get to Cordata Station, a walk I take twice a day to get to and from class. It seemed like every other day there was some cager not paying attention to their surroundings who would come close to hitting me as they tried to make a left. I was only hit there once, as I was walking to Agency Firearms with my AR.

Having to deal with all those idiots out there has really made me more aware; good thing since I'm going to have my motorcycle with me this academic year.

Yeah he might be a racist........ or maybe he is just a Rammstein fan.

if some idiot thinks hes a racist because of that then that persons stupidity and hypocrisy is beyond help and they should simply be ignored.
