Dear Renz,

Thank you for contacting me regarding Operation Choke Point (OCP).

OCP is a Department of Justice (DOJ) program designed to "choke off" a variety of financial services from businesses that the Obama Administration labels as "high risk," including gun and ammunition merchants. DOJ is trying to drive these legal, licensed, and regulated lenders out of business through pressure from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and other federal banking regulators, so banks, credit unions and payment processors refuse to do business with non-depository lenders.

This is a blatant overreach by the Obama Administration with the intended goal of forcing gun and ammunition manufacturers, gun sellers, and non-deposit lenders out of business. These moves are just another way around our Second Amendment rights, and I will continue to support initiatives that safeguard the Second Amendment, encourage safe and responsible gun ownership, and help keep our homes and families safe.

Again, thank you for contacting me. I look forward to continuing our conversation on Facebook (www.facebook.com/SenatorBlunt) and Twitter (www.twitter.com/RoyBlunt) about the important issues facing Missouri and the country. I also encourage you to visit my website (blunt.senate.gov) to learn more about where I stand on the issues and sign-up for my e-newsletter.

Sincere regards,

Roy Blunt
United States Senator

So glad Sen. Blunt is protecting Constitutional rights from the Federal Agencies and the over-reaching Executive...

Looks like Sen Blunt could care less about CT People's United Bank and NC Home Trust Bank complying w Constitution when Bank Regulators gladly carry water against legal businesses- unlike Fast & Furious.

Would hope if Trump/Cruz get elected they shrink Federal Agencies and fire/prosecute bureaucrats acting against Constitution - don't need to prevail - just bankrupt them w legal fees till they agree they violated Bill of Rights - make an example of them so the few bureaucrats left know where the line is...

Roy Blunt is just one cog in the establishment machine, not interested in individual liberty unless his interest will line his pockets with cash.

If you believe Blunt actually wrote the reply you received...rut roh!

FOIA shows either Sen Blunt is lying to you or he is stupid...

"“Until today, the individuals responsible for this unconstitutional program refused to admit that the [Financial Fraud Enforcement Task Force] was responsible for managing the program,” Wise said. “In fact, FOIAs by [U.S. Consumer Coalition] that requested documents that would prove the [Financial Fraud Enforcement Task Force] involvement had been stonewalled and ignored for years.”

Feds were supposed stop Internet fraud, not legal businesses...gee it hasn't turned out that way - who woulda figured??
