Perhaps true if essentials, food, fuel, medicines, housing, &c are one-dimensional and point-like.

They are not. Food ranges from gruel to filet. Fuel ranges from gruel to gasoline. Medicines range from none (to statins) to homeopathy. Housing ranges from debt-free to upsidedown mortgage. The left-hand of these are essentials, while the right-tails are corpulence. The left limit is fatal, while the right extreme is luxury.

Read Steven Jay Gould.

I understand adapting and making choices. Let's get back on OC in Fredericksburg though.

You're pretty much the only one who posts experiences, so thank you. I live in Culpeper and read this thread whenever it pops to the top.

I CC, but still enjoy reading about those of you who put yourselves out there.

Lots of good people and experiences here.

Whether one OCs, CCs, or noCs is not the real test - just don't do anything to impede those that choose to responsibly OC :)

I'd still love to have an OC dinner here... but we'd have to have Tricorn on the list, he's our rock. :)

TFred

What are you doing the evening of July 28th?

Plow through Tricorn's posts to see where he likes to eat, call them up and reserve room for 8. If more folks sign up ahead of time call the place and let them know. If folks just show up, see if you can get some more tables pulled together.

Seriously, putting together an OC dining event is not rocket surgery. If hlh (no offense good buddy) can do it anybody should be able to.

stay safe.

non encounter

On my way into Subway on Rte 3 in King George today, I noticed two deputies vehicles parked outside and they were inside having lunch. The deputy faceing the door must have noticed my sidearm and was eyeballing me as I went by. As I left with my sub, the deputy with his back to the door looked at me and my gun and just smiled and nodded. I hope that's a sign that OC is getting to be accepted as "normal". Not really an encounter here, but I thought worthy of a post:)

Maybe four years ago, I was heading into some store in a strip mall in Manassas and a Prince William County police car eased by in front of me. The lady LEO looked at my strong side, smiled, and gave me a thumbs up sign. So yes, they are out there and for the most part, supportive of Section 13.

Drove to Woodyard auto sales to buy a truck, 4 1/2 hour drive. (wanted a diesel with a stick) On Thursday I looked at it, thought about it on the fourth and went back up on Saturday. No one mentioned the fact I was OC'ing and I am very happy with the "new to me" truck.

On the way home Thursday I stopped at a Hardee's and had a man walk up to my table

Man: You can carry like that here?
Me: Yea, totally legal.
Man: You got a permit though, right?
Me: No, not required and I don't want to jump through hoops for other people's feelings.
Man: I'm not used to that, we're from Jersey.
Me: Feel sorry for you, that is on the list of states I won't move to.
Man: OK have a good one.
Me: you too

Later he came back and was amazed when I told him there were no limits to the number of bullets I could carry, I finished with "Freedom is awesome", and he replied with "I guess" although I did hear him tell his wife they should move here "to get away from the nazis"

Just curious, do you mean a Hardee's in Fredericksburg? Which one?
