Taurus you are correct The pastor grants the ok to CC on a person to person basis I carry all the time to church because he knows me well and hasgiven his approval He has no problem with carrying firearms but needs to know the person before granting permission to them Lets take one step at a time

Taurus, how about meeting Ajelias's pastor somewhere "off site" so you can try reason with him. Show him that open carriers are not all loonitunes. Maybe you could get "prior approval to CC" and then attend the event without suspending your rights. I don't have a problem with your approach, but I lean more toward Piolot's viewpoint ...
Ben said, "You're absolutely right. it will have an impact, and it will make a statement. It will make a statement that you are willing to suspend your rights in return for gain, and it will make a statement that you support organizations who would deny you your rights.

Obviously, being a free society, you are more than welcome to go and share and eat a nice meal. I simply choose to avoid any place that expects me to give up my right to self defense - even if that particular place provides benefit to me."

The same blood that was spilt to give us the right to carry our guns is the same blood that gives the church the right to deny the carry of guns. Let's respect that.
