I wasn't carrying when I had to go onto Ft Belvoir on Thursday, but I was heartened to note as I left that one of the security officers posted at the Walker Gate had a big orange GUNS SAVE LIVES sticker on his truck!

Normal NoVA OC day: Bank of America branch on Duke east of Landmark, went inside to do a transaction, exchanged pleasantries with the security guard and manager. Shopped at the Giant and Harris Teeter, picked up the clothes from the laundry, then shopped and browsed in the Best Buy, Barnes & Noble and Bed Bath & Beyond in Springfield... No reactions anywhere.

Open carried to the gun show in Dale City this morning to set up the VCDL table. Also OCed to Burger King in Springfield for lunch. Tomorrow, I will be headed down to Richmond to pick up a new pistol FTF. Found it through the new site http://www.gundeals.org, which is like a Craiglist for guns.

Who was that masked man?

Don't know, but you can always tell where he has been by the trail of day-glow orange stickers.

Hi-ho VCDL, away! .............Sound of hoof beats, riding to new adventures.

OC'ed lots of new places. No issues....

Of note, Fords Fish Shack in Ashburn.... AMAZING as usual. My 3rd time there, first time OCing. Waitress this time was British, that lived in California for 10 years, and not a bad comment.

Tried to OC at Bungalow Billiards. The bar manager tried to tell me that it was illegal to have a gun in an establishment that serves alcohol. Talked to him about the fact that the law had changed and that it was perfectly legal for me to be there. He then said he didn't allow guns in his restaurant and that there is a sign on the door. I looked and there was no sign.

Which Bungalow's? The one by me is most definitely posted. Good on you for giving him the facts. Hope you didn't give them any money.

Logan's Roadhouse in Sterling did the exact same thing to me. When trying to cite law to get me to leave failed, they just said they don't allow guns in the restaurant. I asked what he would do if someone walked in shooting, wouldn't it be nice to have a good guy inside to stop him? He was flustered for about 10 secs then just reiterated that they don't allow guns and I am free to leave it in my car.

My response was along the lines of: so you want to leave me disarmed and unable to protect my family? What if someone sees me put it in my car? Then they take MY gun and walk in here to shoot up the place? Now NOONE can defend themselves. No thanks.

I got my whole family up and left. We had already ordered our full meals by then with appetizer and I am sure they arrived to an empty table. Corporate never bothered to respond with their stance on guns, but now their wiki notes their anti-gun policy....

Just a note. The laws in Virginia have did not change regarding the carrying of a firearm into and ABC-ON establishment... keeping in mind that this is an OC forum. Now if you were CC'ing then yes, you would be correct.

Close enough for me. My point at the time was that he's wrong an I was right about being allowed to OC in a bar.

OC'd on my bike down the WO&D to The Bike Lane in downtown reston. Very OC friendly people there, nothing but good comments each time I go.

Had the opportunity to invite one of them here and to the Virgina Open Carry FB page, and to our OC breakfasts at Coney Island. Hope to see him soon.

Finally...

For the first time since I have been openly carrying, someone noticed and asked a question. I was standing in the checkout line at the Giant food store on Duke Street east of Landmark, and the woman behind me asked which police department I was with. I was dressed in a maroon polo shirt and blue slacks, OCing a my edc - a Sig .40 in an OWB holster. I simply smiled and said, "I'm not with the police, I'm just a citizen like yourself." She gave me a "Hmph!", but not in a negative way and said nothing else.

We then stopped in at Harris Teeter, where there was the typical non-reaction.

Someone Noticed!

Have not been posting lately as there has been not much to post about.

OC my XD 9 service model in OWB every time I go out in public and have had almost no questions or reactions for months.

Finally had someone notice when I was loading up the car at Southern States in Middleburg. One of the employees bringing a bag of chicken feed out to my car asked about my "concealed weapon". I politely informed him it was called "open carry" because it was "open" and not concealed. Said to do a google search on VA Open Carry and gave him a brief summary of the differences between VA concealed carry and open carry.

Ended with him thanking me and offering a handshake which I gladly accepted.

Now I can get back to my chickens...

Hi, folks. Been up north a while, but have finally returned to do more local OCing.

OCd today while dropping a friend off at the Vienna Metro, followed by coffee at the Oakton Starbucks, and a quick trip to Virginia Commerce Bank in Reston. No issues.

I had a similar conversation a few weeks ago with my mailman. I'd met him down by the mailbox to collect the day's delivery, and he asked me about my 'concealed weapon.' I responded that if he's looking at it, and asking me about it, it's obviously not concealed. :dude:

Maybe we need a couple of new designations:

COC = concealed open carry

OCC = open concealed carry

Figured I'd just put this in here, wasn't carrying today, but since I was spotted carrying over spring break was pulled out of class, "inquired" about me doing so and detained by the SRO/school security officer, until they could confirm that I could posses and carry the pistol that was locked up at home, for background info I am 18 and go to centreville high school where I am a senior
