Nixon signs HB294

Today Jay Nixon signed HB294 into law, according to NRA ILA. I don't have any more details than that. If anyone sees any comments the Governor might have made, I would love to read them.

I'm sure, as a liberal, he signed it with a smile on his face. It isn't every day we take a step backwards on gun rights thanks to our so-called conservative reps that pushed this bill through with overwhelming majorities.

I tend to believe that the bill isn't particularly useful at restoring our rights for most people (unless you deal in NFA items or work for the legislature.) But, I don't see much retrograde action either, except for the new shooting requirements. I think there's a small amount of good, but an even smaller amount of bad.

But, on the other hand, how do you judge a mixed bag of legislation like this? How do you score it to come up with whether it is good for the citizens or not?

If it creates more obstacles and more costs that a citizen must overcome before he/she can exercise a privilege that, for all practical purposes, should be a right, then it is "bad", IMHO.
