there IS a law passed... but i need actual case law and/or state law to have handy for when some er... improperly trained officer arrests me. Telling him what law to look up/call in gives him MUCH less defense against a wrongful detainment/arrest suit, imho

Arrogant cops will not listen to you since they think they are the law set in stone and what they say goes. Of course all police are not like that but the Lake Ozark cops will follow their arrogant know it all anti chief.

Absolutely - notice is a powerful thing. It sucks, but it's best given in advance.

An open carry picnic/walk/whatever a great way to show him up - and demonstrate the reach of Amendment 5/the revised Article 1, Section 23.

I'm wondering where the next move will be made - Springfield, Lake Ozark, or somewhere else?

independence doesn't allow open carrying in public parks or government buildings.. of course sb656 admonishes the OC in parks if you have CCW.. and A5 pretty much butchers it entirely.

Okay, so are you willing to do anything about their park prohibition on OC, unless one has a CCW permit? Something as simple as a records request would be a start.
You'd be surprised at what a little thing like asking "Uh, what's the law on guns on X's property," can do to certain muscles of certain bureaucrats.

I asked my local mayor why I could not OC in Wentzville when 21.750.3 had not been used to ban OC. They went "What? OC ain't banned...we respect the 2A, I mean I respect the 2A!!" Well, asked copper Such-n-Stuff about over coffee at the C store, and he told me to cover it or get pinched. I told him to start pinching...he didn't, smart cop there.

Danged if the City Father's didn't go and evoke 21.750.3 about six months later. Now, with A5 the law of the land I sent my mayor another nice little note...hadn't heard a peep yet. But, a follow up note to the top cop did give the top cop, or one of her minions, a chance to come along with me for a wee bit of shopping while I be OCing, as I went sans endorsement...ain't heard back from her either.

List of stores and rough times provided, make, model/color of me truck, what I'll be wearing...I don't think I'll see a cop up close and personal this weekend...top cop is a smart lady too.

Nothing directly in the parks rules say it is prohibited I have a couple of calls in we will see what I get back from that if not I will shine some sun on independence!

Attempting to make the same point you made, very effectively, last year during the arch walk. My effectiveness has yet to be revealed.
Just to be clear, I wasn't cutting on you - I didn't understand your post.

You seemed to start off by saying "Don't rock the boat" ("You'd be surprised at what a little thing like asking "Uh, what's the law on guns on X's property," can do to certain muscles of certain bureaucrats."), although that example isn't applicable because Ezek had already stated he had knowledge of an existing OC prohibition...?

Then you seemed to offer an example of where rocking the boat had produced negative results ("...Danged if the City Father's didn't go and evoke 21.750.3 about six months later...)

Then you offered an example of you throwing down the gauntlet to a cop (right on!) who didn't know the law.

Hence my post - I didn't understand where you were going because I viewed your post as pointing in multiple directions.

My suggestion is that if Ezek insists a prohibition exists, then *he* ought to unobtrusively document that his belief is accurate. No sense whacking a potential hornet's nest.

Are there any parks in Lake Ozark? Have an OC picnic and I guarantee there will be some training. If you want help, just ask.

There is a small park right across the street from the Police station. There is no doubt in my mind that Lake Ozark has to be dealt with. I have been asked to wait for any public activity surrounding open carry until the Missouri Supreme Court issues their ruling on the felony and wording issue in front of them concerning Amendment 5. I will honor that request. After that as they say..."Katie bar the door"

There is no felony issue in front of the MSC that I'm aware of. What are you referring to?

I have plenty of experience with people and entities who advise inaction - they're usually the one's practicing it, except when it benefits them to do otherwise. It's your berg and your choice, however.
