Is carrying a compensated gun a bad idea?

The origins of the new Coonan resides in the original Coonan with development reaching back to the late ’70s

The Coonan Classic .357 Magnum fires real Magnum cartridges, not the .357 Sig rounds developed in recent years. Sharing many of the same parts as a standard 1911 pistol, the Coonan Classic has a 5″ barrel, stainless steel frame and slide, and a 7+1 capacity.

Eight rounds of proven man-stopping .357 Magnum in a tried and true 1911 platform? Nice.

Is the new Coonan chambered for .357 Sig or the .357 magnum/.38 cal.?

The latter has numerous distinct advantages.

Looking at the top of the slide, I'm gonna have to say .357 mag

I'm sure a quick look at the website will confirm that.

Edit: Oop, there it is, in American, right on that very picture! Silly me.

Took a look around his web site.

$1199.00 for the pistol + $60.00 ea for extra mags is no light weight, but much below average .for high end guns.

Would love to shoot one with 125 grain and 148 grain loads to experience the felt recoil. It has to be lower than a revolver.

I'll put this on my lottery list. :D

I can arrange a firing of a rare 6" barreled sample and a comparison test with the lightest .357 mag (LCR).
With a simple spring change it shoots .38spl (hot to +P) and .357mag.

With the 6' barrel velocities are from 150 ->250fps faster when compared to 4" and 6" barreled revolvers.

The two 5" barreled (one Classic and new version) and Cadet (vintage compact) are for my Heirs to enjoy.
