These kind of violations are the reward for being a good law abiding gun owner..

Was there a warrant signed by a judge to seize the weapons of the 70 year old man? I may have miss that.. If not, where is the citizens right to due process?

Government cannot seize guns from criminals, because criminals fly under the radar hence they target law abiding permit/license holding citizens..
Another example of petty tyrants violating rights and removing the means of a lawful person to protect him/her self and family from those that wish to do them ill will..
I contend again, depriving any free citizen the right to protect self and family is the highest form of tyranny..

" Because of what appears to be a lawful command on the surface, many citizens because of their respect for what ONLY appears to be a law, are cunningly coerced into waiving their rights due to ignorance" United States v Minker

" Freedom is not about doing whatever we please, its about not belonging to anyone else"..

Freedom to protect self and family needs no permission from another human, unless said permission is freely given.

Your rights, your arms, your safety and families safety is in jeopardy.

" Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves" Doctor Ben Franklin

Here is a quote we need to heed and practice-- " No man shall rule over me with my consent, I will rule no man" William lloyd Garrison

Gun rights have been the bastard step child of our civil rights for a long time.

Some day I would love to see charges against high government officials who use the color of their office to violate them.

One or two mayors or polices chiefs going to federal prison would take care of the problems they like to inflict on gun owners.

The cooling effect on the rest would be noticeable.

This is the saddest part of all.
With the backing of the National Rifle Association and California Rifle and Pistol Association, Roberts filed a federal lawsuit in May 2014, over the $15,500 worth of firearms. In the end he got the money, but not the guns. The police had had them destroyed.
Being "family heirlooms", many were probably antiques or well-cared for older guns that are likely to be irreplaceable.
Cold, hard cash is little (if any) compensation for the loss this family suffered.

Here is more on this story.

No cop shop will be required to replace the firearms. A check is what you get and be glad for that. Chock up another rights violation to QI. Cops know they have it and they rely upon it when they make a "honest" mistake.

Reverse Terry v. Ohio and QI will follow very shortly there after.

I would prefer the cops listed as those partaking in the confiscation of the mans guns ammo and accessories be held accountable for all the seized property. What I mean is simply this: were 10 officers involved? Were 25 officers involved including supervisors on up the chain of command? Divide the number of DOJ people involved into the value of all items seized. Each DOJ member involved hands over his/her own cash money (NOT taxpayer funds).
Nothing gets a ner do wells attention faster than stealing from the thieves who violated this mans rights.

Then if original victim is still alive he should vote with his dollars and GET THE HELL OUT of commie infested Commiefornia.

We also need to abolish " asset forfeiture" as well.

Cite? You are accusing LEO (sic) of criminal activity. Please back up your statement with arrests or court records of that criminal activity. Otherwise, it's just more cop bashing.
Unless there were something very current and dramatic pertaining directly to what we do here, it is going to fall into the CopWatch bin.

OH Please Sir...What do actually think " asset forfeiture" is, if not theft by government agents?

Do your own research.. Asset forfeiture is a crime committed on citizens plain and simple.. No bashing just facts..

Asset forfeiture makes towel paper of the Constitution.

The Return of Tragic Boating Accidents

Keep "cheap guns" for such a occasion. The "good guns" should be secured properly from government tyranny.

Don't give them any guns, just tell them "Sorry Officer, I lost all of my firearms and ammo in a tragic boating accident."

OC, thank you for posting the video.. Clearly anyone that supports Civil asset forfeiture is not a liberty minded constitutional minded person.
The war on drugs and the war on terrorism was created to give government carte blanche to destroy personal liberty and the constitution..
If we support folks that support asset forfeiture we deserve the government that we put in office.

Asset forfeiture is hundred times worse than Terry v Ohio. Asset forfeiture violates the 4th, 5th, 7th 8th and 14th amendments..

We live under a constitution where one is innocent before guilty.. The government using asset forfeiture can in fact destroy a family simply based on said family's political believes.. Asset forfeiture is theft by deception, is a civil rights violation is a constitutional rights violation.

Politicians and judges, lawyers and LEA that support AF are petty tyrants that denounce individual liberty.. Therefore if anyone supports a politician or anyone that supports AF is a thief and a tyrant of the highest order..

For starters allow me to mention a few petty tyrants that do indeed support asset forfeiture.

1- Donald J trump
2- Jeff Sessions
3- Joe Arpino
4- David Clarke

Numbers 1,3 and 4 have been discussed numerous times on this board, all three are revered here by a few that have no clue concerning individual liberty.. The few see that 1,3,4 support the 2nd amendment, what the few fail to see is that 1,3 and 4 support AF..

The few fail to understand the power and evil of AF, for example.. Let's assume you are out walking and open carrying, a truly legal activity, now lets assume you jaywalk or litter, some LEO can now in fact detain you and seize your firearm under asset forfeiture.. That is the power and evil of AF.
Obviously there are hundreds of examples much more serious than having ones firearm seized.

Voting or supporting anyone that supports AF is a vote for tyranny.. Defending anyone that supports AF is defending tyranny.

How anyone that so vehemently supports the 2nd amendment, yet supports any of the four folks on my paucity list is beyond my realm of logical thinking. Tyrants come in all colors, religious beliefs and political parties.. I shall denounce them one and all, and if by denouncing said tyrants, I subject myself to the wrath of a few hypocrites here then so it must be for I cannot strongly support the 2nd amendment without also supporting rights all rights just as strongly. For it is indeed hypocritical to strongly support one right while turning a BLIND eye to all others..

Asset forfeiture goes against the constitution, goes against liberty and freedom and any support thereof is supporting despotism and tyranny.

" The duty of a patriot is to protect his country from its government" Thomas Paine

" Those that expect to reap the Blessings of FREEDOM must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it" Thomas Paine

I denounce all forms of tyranny, I support individual liberty, I support natural law, I support all rights for all mankind..

Be safe folks, for asset forfeiture does not only target criminals..

CCJ, here is another video on government theft upon American citizens. Any form of confiscation (theft) by any government entity, of any personal assets, from cash to guns in my view is just criminal.

Another great example indeed of government theft. These government thieves make the robber barons from days past look like honorable folks.
Said thieves take money and property so as to hire more thieves to grow their enterprise.

Thank you OC.

Wait, they're barren? How do you know they can't have babies??

Did the 'smartest man in the room™' just mistake barren [unproductive, infertile, unfruitful, sterile, arid, desert
"barren land"] for baron [a person who has become rich through ruthless and unscrupulous business practices (originally with reference to prominent US businessmen in the late 19th century)].
