So unfortunately my workplace is about 2 blocks from Bass Pro and I spend quite a few lunch breaks browsing over the guns they have. Today they have a new addition inthe handgun case. A High Standard 1911 .45 ACP and the price seems pretty low for 45. .499 NIB. Are these any good ? Been looking at the .45 acp but never saw one my wallet liked.

They are pretty nice guns by all acounts. High Standards are made in the Philippines by Armscor. Armscor also makes 1911's for Rock Island Armory and Charles Daily. $499 is about$50 -$100atoo high, IMO. There are much better deals to be had out there. If I was going to spend $500 on a 1911 it would be a Springfield.

I have one and unfortuneatly I think I probably paid way too much for it as I was even more ignorant of handguns then, then now. But its overall a pretty good gun. Not had any real problems aside from a weak spring the previous owner had in it. Replaced the spring and it stopped jamming. No more hiccups.

There was a pretty good review of them in the last Blue Press, which is the Dillon Precision catalog/magazine. It looked to be very reliable and shot some pretty good groups.
