No, just handguns, "Assault Rifles", and Hi-Cap Magazines. Ordinary looking semi-auto rifles, bolt actions, and shotguns won't be affected. Just handguns and those "evil looking rifles with the big mags".

This time...

Update

[FONT=&quot]We got a message from Jamie Pedersen, who spoke with Adam Kline. Adam Kline; chair of the Senate Judiciary who doesn't want to hear it.

One of the conditions for a hearing given by Jamie was to convince Adam Kline...

This will be a challenge. Please direct any effort towards Kline, if we can get Kline to just say ok to a hearing, this bill will get a hearing!!

Good luck. Remember, Adam Kline is the one that keeps introducing a bill to ban assault weapons. He's no friend of the gun community. If he feels he can block any legislation favorable to guns in any way, he will.

What you need is some pictures of Adam Kline in a compromising position with Farm Animals. THAT might get his approval for a hearing.

FYI - there is a pending Federal case in Texas to allow 18 year olds to buy handguns from FFL dealers........ The case is D'Cruz v. BATFE
http://www.nraila.org/News/Read/NewsReleases.aspx?id=14212

NRA-ILA is seeking assistance for our federal lawsuit in Texas challenging the prohibition on handgun purchases for persons 18-20 year old.

To strengthen our case, we are in need of the following:
Young people, age 18-20 who would be willing to sign an affidavit that they would like to purchase a handgun, if it were legal.

And,

FFL dealers, who would be willing to sign an affidavit that they would like to sell a handgun to a person 18-20 years old, if it were legal.

In both cases, Texas residency is not required, although it would be a plus.

These folks would not be plaintiffs, but would be supporting witnesses.

If among your contacts out in your states you know people who fit these categories (or have family members who fit) and might be interested in participating in this suit in the manner described, we need to make contact with them.

Please contact ILA at ILAlegal@nrahq.org or call 703 267 1661 for more information.

Thank you for your support.

Went off dropping off letters and info to members of the Senate Judiciary urging them to push Kline to grant it a hearing. Was able to speak with Val Stevens who was all for it and very encouraging. Hope she can get a good word in.

Here's the info for the rest of the Senate Judiciary,
"nick.harper@leg.wa.gov,
cheryl.pflug@leg.wa.gov,
mike.carrell@leg.wa.gov,
james.hargrove@leg.wa.gov,
jeanne.kohl-welles@leg.wa.gov,
debbie.regala@leg.wa.gov,
pam.roach@leg.wa.gov;

And of course, the man in the spotlight,

adam.kline@leg.wa.gov 360 786-7688

Back in 2003, Kline did support the reciprocity bill as did other Democrats and Republicans alike.

Now, does anyone here have a person that lives in Kline's district whose willing to help out???? We desperately need someone that does!

any updates on the status of this bill....?

http://apps.leg.wa.gov/billinfo/summary.aspx?bill=1238&year=2011

In a word, stuck.

There isn't enough support in the legislature it would appear.

HB 1400 has even more sponsors and its probably not going to get past the Judiciary Committee either.

Overall, it seems all the positive and negative 2A related bills that are being introduced are kind of canceling each-other out and pretty much nothing is getting traction this session.

Except...

Woot:exclaim:

So are you getting your firearm fitted for a suppressor yet?

I'm just glad that the reality of use has finally caught up with possession. Its just plain dumb to be allowed to have something like that but not be able to use it under lawful circumstances.

Overall, I consider it another small win in favor of the 2A in our state.

I wrote my Rep Matt Shea last week with the following:

SUBJECT: Support of HB 1238

MESSAGE:

Mr. Shea,

Thank you for your service to the 4th District of the State of Washington and to this great country. I am writing you today to appeal for your support of HB 1238 changing the age requirement fot the possession of pistols in Washington State.

I am raising two teenage boys with a healthy respect for firearms and a sense of personal responsibility that includes, among other things, the responsibility they have to protect them selves rather than relying on society to do so. I model this each and every day by lawfully carrying a firearm for protection of myself and my family. As my boys turn 18, they will be eligible to vote, enlist and serve, even fight and die for their country, but not legally be allowed to protect themselves or their loved ones under current state law. I find this to be an insult to thousands of adult men and women in this state between the age of 18 and 20 who are being forced to rely on others for their own personal protection, which only serves to encourage the sense of entitlement that is plaguing several generations of our society.

Mr. Shea, please consider supporting this bill and encouraging your fellow representatives to do the same. The safety and future of my family depends on it.

Thank You,
Ryan Wilson
Spokane Valle

Received the following reply today:

Ryan,
I support this bill just missed the co-sponsor deadline. I am working right now in Judiciary on an amendment to do the same thing since it looks like the bill will not get a hearing. More than one way to skin a cat...

Warm Regards,

Rep. She

Not much as far as news goes, but still some hope.

We've been in contact with Matt Shea lately, seems he got lost somewhere in the horizon...he's come back though and hopefully he'll catch up.
