When i told my mom's family that i got a gun, they all looked at me like as if i was behind 9/11..... ******* idiots.

they were like guns are bad, only bad people have guns...

anyway i got a quick question. will the Federal 12 GA 2 3/4 inch MAXIMUM 9 pellets 00 buck work in my gun?

Thanks

Yes but BE CAREFUL using Buck shot for home defense...that will go STRAIGHT thru your walls...
I use 2 3/4 inch 7 1/2 lead shot. big enough to do the job, small enough to stop when the job is done.

congrats on your first purchase.
and welcome to OCDO

thanks bro. my dad is stll going crazy since i got a gun, lol. my mom supports me, but my dad is calling me so many bad names. he should be the one buying the gun, since it is his job to protect the family.

the main reason why i bought this gun is for the coming SHTF/economic crisis.

guns, gold, food, ammo is what is needed for survival :)

Good choice. I have Remington 870 Tactical and I love it. Good gun and lots of accessories out there if you want to deck it out.

Who's going to want gold when everyone is starving?

In a SHTF scenario, toilet paper will become the new gold.

Nice shotgun! Fun to shoot, and good for home defense. They're almost like a mouse... point and click.

Re: the gold... nah. TP is right, but also dont' forget to invest in the "juice" -

... oh and investing in punk rock apparel and hair products as it may be good for bartering with the locals.

Congrats on a new gun! for shot loads (not slugs) the only requirement for the shotgun is that the shell is not too long. 2 3/4" is the shortest chambering for a 12gauge. So yes that will work. You can look on the barrel near where it meets the receiver, there will be markings about what the chamber is. Three options are 2 3/4", 3", 3 1/2". The 3.5" is usually magnum loads for turkey or big game.

If only evil people have guns then there are many, myself included, who have been evil from early childhood.

Congrats. That Remy will serve you well for a lifetime. When your dad sees that owning a gun hasn't warped you into a psychopath--or you know, changed you at all, maybe he'll confront whatever is causing this emotion.

As far as home defense ammo I think #4 buckshot is where it's at. Most loads have around 27-35 pellets, each of which is just a little less than a quarter inch across. Better penetration than birdshot, and a lot less than 00 Buck. As a bonus, it stands a better chance for the shot group to open up at typical distance inside of the house.

But yeah your stockpile should definitely include some 00Buck regardless of which ammo you chose to keep loaded.

I keep one of mine loaded with #5 copper plated turkey magnums.

well you need something that is going to hold its value. you cant just replace your lifes savings with food or guns.

hmmm, I'm surprised twindragons is still posting here...

Anywho, I think what he is saying is that when the SHTF gold will hold no value. What value does a hunk of metal that does nothing hold. When SHTF what am I going to do with a bar of gold. I cant do anything with it. When SHTF who will trade the last of their food for a hunk of metal that does nothing except look shiny...

Bar of gold - you can't eat it, drink it, it's heavy as crap....it does nothing... where is it's value? I'm surprised that even today in a non SHTF time people are buying gold. What is so valuable about it? It's a soft metal. Big whoop.

Something is only worth as much as a buyer values it- and I'm not buying. I value it at negative 5 cans a food. Yes, negative. When SHTF you can pay me 5 cans of food to take the gold off your hands.

so you are going to invest 100% of your lifes saving into food and guns?

very smart move buddy. let me know how that works out for you. ;)

I shot the gun today for my 1st time. i have never shot any REAL gun before, other than a pellet rifle. i used the 8 shot birdshots and the 00 buck. the bird shots were freaking powerful. my shoulder is still sore as hell. is this normal? will i get used to it?

when i shot the 00 buck it felt like i lost my arm. thats how powerful it was. and im a big guy. O_O
