Evergreen State Fair/Evergreen Speedway/Snohomish county

the thread about the Puyallup far got me to thinking:

During the course of my "employment" by Evergreen Speedway as track photographer, there have been occasions when I've noticed "firearms prohibited" signs posted at the entrance to the grandstands for the races. I know that Snohomish County owns the property & that "High Road Promotions" is the Lessee for the speedway: Has anyone done any research into the terms of the Lease by HRP from SNOCO?

Just curious: not that I'd be able to carry as an employee, but......

I know for a fact that during Formula Drift last year, one particular individual was escorted from the premises: had a firearm tucked in his waistband & there were reports of him having flashed it at several individuals...

just up lat & blabbering away....

Unless the lease with the County says the lessee CAN'T prohibit firearms, the same rules apply as if the promoter actually owned the property. By leasing it he gets all the rights the actual property owner has except the right to sell it. Most leases even hold the lessee responsible for taxes, maintenance, and repairs (the "triple net" clause on most leases)

Ask yourself if the individual being escorted off the premises had not "flashed" the weapon, or had been carrying concealed, would have even been bothered.

This has been pretty much answered time and time again but I thought I'd answer anyway. The typing helps with the arthritis in my fingers and hands :) :)

In my research the fair grounds in Monroe (where I used to live) do not use leases but rather permits of use. I have a copy of one of such permits (Washington Arms Collectors). No where in the permit does it convey property rights nor prohibit firearms. Of course, it may be a bad example. Perhaps the speedway section of the grounds are handled differently...
