Does open carry with a small firearm look stupid?

I think our OP has finally found the answer to the argument that OC has no "element of surprise" like CC does. The bad guys will be totally surprised that a gun that looks so ridiculously tiny can be wielded with such terrifying accuracy. (Assuming, of course, that he practices with the thing.)
I take it you've used one of these before?

It still puzzles me how accurate that PA-63. Must be the fixed barrel.
It is a fixed barrel.

That's what I'm saying. I've had to clean one a few times. :D
How does the slide come off?

You see how the trigger guard pulls down a bit?

That square of metal on it sits in the frame and holds the slide/spring on.

You pull the trigger guard, and it rotates down about 10 degrees or so.

With the trigger guard down (if you have large hands, you can hold the guard with your middle finger), pull the slide all the way back, then, slide comes back, lift up, and it pulls off the front.

It's really easy once you get the hang of it.

What I don't like is that the little empty maazine spring pin can easily get dislodged. I cleaned my arm one time and after that empty mags didn't lock back the slide. And since mine didn't come with a manual I didn't know the spring was supposed to go on a particular way, which might also be part of the reason it shot so poorly one time.

Oh. . sorry for hi-jakcing your thread. I will stop.

No it does not look stupid.

What looks stupid is an empty holster when meeting up for an OC dinner. Dropping my Mod. 60 BUG into my 1911 holster to "take up the slack" looked stupid too but it did satisfy the basic standard of carrying what you got.

Ya, I did that once. :p

Small has less to do with efective than does the caliber of the user. Still, I'd say a 380 would be the scrapin' bottom minimum to carry.

As for physical size? Well, that's personal choice. But a small gun like a makorov or a walther doesn't look out of place on most folks. Ifyou happen tobreak the 6 foot 200 pound mark, it might, however, appear kinda smallish.

If it does not effectively stop the threat in the shortest possible time, I do!
