Change a Ruger P90 into a DC only model? One guy told me it is difficult to get the parts, but he doesn't know how to do it. I talked to a few boneheads that told me it is impossible...

There use to be 2 models on the Ruger(For example Ruger P90 and then there is the Ruger P90DC). Just like the Sigs I believe. 1 is standard and 1 is DC(Decocker Only). With the standard when you flip the safety level down it will decock the gun and put it on safe while disengaging the trigger.

With the DC model, when you push the lever down it is spring loaded and comes right back up after decocking it. There is no trigger disengagement with the DC model.

Now I know someone is gonna say isn't that a safety issue? Any the answer to that is NO. A Glock is way more dangerous... Only because of the government and some idiot that probably shot himself/someone tried to sue Ruger. Ruger will not do it anymore as they use too not even a year ago. They do not even sell the DC only model anymore on any gun I believe. This truly is sad. Always someone there to ruin it for everyone.

A Glock is only as dangerous as the person handling it. The DEA guy with his "Glock Foty" was negligent. Someone who religiously follows the "keep your booger hook off the bang switch" rule is not negligent. Doesn't matter how many safeties you put on a gun, idiocy will always prevail. Unless I'm at the range or decocking my Glock for disassembly and cleaning, my finger is on the side of the frame while handling it.

True, true. Point is the style of safety is more dangerous, and I seem to get crap from people about.

FIREARM SAFETY - A mechanical device used to render a firearm "safe" that is PRONE to Failure.

In a car you can have devices that parallel park for you, but if you hit another car who's fault is it? The Car's? Because the device failed? Or yours because you were driving.

In anything we do, we are ultimately responsible for the end result.

Safeties are just mechanical devices made by man, and are just as prone to failure as anything else.

In the end it is your own responsibility to make sure the firearm is safe, through your actions and understanding. Not some device.

I myself have had a safety fail. I have seen military weapons wear the safety failed on chambering a round, or a Navy mossberg 12ga that discharged while on Safe when slung over the sailor's shoulder.

How is a Glock more dangerous?  More dangerous than what?  It's a gun, isn't it supposed to be dangerous?

No I consider it a tool, just like I do all my Kliens in my bags. A tool is only as dangerous as you make it?

I say it is more dangerous in the fact that all you have to do is pull the trigger with a glock vs having a ex hammer with a DA function DC model.

A well maintained firearm in good working order can be left loaded, cocked, and chambered on a table for 100 years and nothing will happen unless an outside force acts on it. Trigger has to be pulled for it to go off. A safety just mechanically adds another step, but the end result is the same. Finger go squeeze, gun go bang.

BTW, is it simply a matter of swapping out parts on the Ruger? Or is the slide on the DC model milled differently?

You are correct sir. At least from what I have learned. I can get the parts, but NOT a slide....So I need a slide I guess. I absolutely have grown to hate it too. So any ideas would be very helpful. Thanks.

Do a search on gunbroker.com

There is a P90DC listed with 2 mags, case etc for $350. Just buy the gun and sell your old one. Item #171564767

Well thank you sir...I think I found my 3rd Ruger. Thing is my wife got me my P90 as a gift way back. If I sell it...well...I like sleeping inside. It rains to much. Plus I have custom work on my P90.

And to killchain.." Uh oh, someone stirred up the Glock hornets.

Make sure to use your Ranger Safety when you're running from them. (HAHA I make a funny)"
I did get a chuckle from that, but I'm pretty sure it's the other way around....seeing how no Glock shoots as nice ;)
