I keep reading about people that have bad OC encounters. I am convinced at this point that 90% of them could have been good if ya'll just used some common sense...

I walked into Dicks sportings goods in jville while carrying openly, which I've done so on multiple occasions. This time, the young man at the door politely informed me that policy said I couldn't carry my gun there. So ya know what I did? I didn't immmediately ask for the manager. I didn't "educate" him on the law. You'll never guess what I did,,,

I smiled, that's right folks. I smiled! I then told him that hell, I carry legally, and I've never been stopped there before! He explained that their policy is based on someone that came in looking for a case for his gun. I laughed and said wow, I bet that was scary. I then said hey! What does your manager think about people just carrying legally, for personal protection...

He called the manager up to the front, and guess what? He had a CHP! He said I was fine...they just had a bad experience so people have been antsy. I told him that I don't blame him! The guy at the front did what he was told, and was friendly and helpful.

I proceeded to shop in the store and buy what I came for.

I really think if y'all would remember to smile once in a while, things would go a lot easier.

I OC at the Dick's on Bridford Parkway in Greensboro regularly. Never had any issues. The only issue I've had there is that a couple of the Lodge employees can be pricks sometimes. Last week I made a comment to one employee about how I'm starting to see .380 ammo coming back again, and the guy looked at me like I grew a second head. He insisted that it MUST be "off-brand", and that it couldn't possibly be Remington or Winchester. 10 minutes later I purchased two boxes ow WWB in .380 across the street at Wal-Mart :p.

How can you make that statement and you don't know me?

That is interesting, cause I was OC'in, went to walk into the very same store, and was told that I could not OC, but if I had a CHP (working on that one) that I was fine to CC. Very Interesting..........

Politely follow upwith the manager - make sure they understand open carry is allowed by corporate policy.

I have never one whipped out my phone to record cops when they approch me, not have I been a dick to them. Not once have I when questioned started on a rant how I can do it. When some one confronts me and wantS to make a big deal and fuss. I walk away, I let them live their life thinking what they think is right. Always smile and be kind, and you will never have a bad encounter.

I'm all about doing what's right and being with in the law...... Just sometimes it's better to polite, and I think that some times is when you have a gun. ( so you dobt make all gun owners look like dicks)

At the least, they won't see that we can't spell, or type straight......LOL

Just messing with ya man. But, you do have a very valid point, sometimes the best thing to do is to be polite, obey the law (Leave when asked) and come back later for a nice, quiet conversation with the manager.
