Are you really serious with that, or are you being facetious? My 10 year old girl knows about that.

I was serious, but I just Googled it. Guess I was wrong about our Government taking away citizens firearms. Glad your kid is well educated; I think I was 14 when it happened and never heard of it.

Thank you for being adult about it, and doing some research before spouting off like so many do online.

The red part, I found especially disturbing, but that was hardly your fault. If you were 14, you would have been in school, and that should have been taught in class.

Like that would have been taught in schools.

Who usually teaches schools? More liberal minded people. What is something (some) liberal people don't think of as essential? Firearms

For most it wasn't as big of a deal as it is to us.

Also, most people didn't know about this until Katrina was subsiding and then it wasn't "news".

We definitely didn't learn about any of that in school, especially anything regarding violence outside of being told about the looting. It wasn't until a year or two later that I started reading more into it, and even now I'm still learning stuff. At least President Bush created a law that will [hopefully] prevent such confiscations from happening again in times of emergencies like Katrina.

That was one of the things that started the revolutionary war, back in the 1770's. The Brit's tried to restrict gun ownership.

At the time of Missouri's voter referendum on concealed carry ('98) I was working at a university in the SE part of the state and had quite a few letters to the editor published in support. There was a British couple at the university, and at a big to-do the guy just had to debate me on the subject and I had pretty well destroyed his arguments when he said (puffing himself up in an air of superiority like only the Brits and French can do) "WELL; if I had my way we would just go out and pick them all up". I said "And just how did that work out for you lime sucking sons-of-bitches the last time you tried it"? He just glared at me a couple seconds and stormed off.

I was the technician that operated the nicest auditorium on campus and a few days later the university president was there for a presentation to the deans and department chairs. He asked "Exactly what did you say to Reggie the other night just before he and his wife left"? So I repeated the final part, the pres was an Air Force officer, I was enlisted Marine Corps, he just shook his head kinda chuckling and said "Don't mess with a Jarhead" and we each went on with what we were doing.

If this new push sets things off, it will make the rebellion against the British look like a girl scout jamboree!!
