Well how about the insanity of doing nothing effective to solve the problem - like passing more restrictive gun laws.

In this case, Kennesaw made a very rational decision that had very positive results. MAIG should take their blinders off and learn from a good object lesson.

Agree that Einstein said nothing about insanity, but IIRC he was the author of something along the lines of "The only two things I am certain of are the infinitness of the university and the stupidity of mankind, and I sometimes have my doubts about the former."

Rather than have to carry a rulebook more complex than that of MLB [the "infield fly" rule] it's easier to just OC even if it means doing the infamous Virginia Tuck. As was mentioned, it's the fault of Timmy Kaine if anybody asks.

stay safe.

I find it easier to not bother looking for that ABC license - I just OC wherever we go to eat.

It does make McDonald's more interesting sometimes. ;)

It REALLY makes life interesting in Ralley's! The only Ralleys around here are "in the hood". We went in one this afternoon on Mercury Blvd near the old Hampton Coliseum and a few patrons noticed my left hip.

I also got the distinct impression I wasn't the only armed customer in the place when a group of four Young Urban Businessmen (with trousers below their buttocks, smellingofrecently smoked product) entered and (not as quickly as I thought they might) decided to solve their craving for munchies elsewhere.

I almost laughed out loudwhen I heard their eyelids click and saw them flutter over bleeding eyeballs. If I had better hearing, I might have heardtheir brainsengage several seconds later. They were definitely "under the influence" as they stumbled to the door to an '82 Caprice sitting 3' off the ground,"rolling on 24's" and drove away.

My son chose that time to say (not quietly enough) "We're surrounded". In fact, we were... Everyone there seemed to notice us sitting quietly eating our lunch. After my son's azzwholeishobservation, I thought it would be a goodtime to leave. Sometimes kids say the darnedest thingsthat embarass us in the process.

I sincerely hoped it wasn'tone of thosebusinesses with an expanded menu not shown to the burger-eating public. I've heard of some drive-thru places with special menu itemsresembling vegetation rolled incellophane "baggies" and small "rock" collections.

I think I'll OC closer to home and CC in unfamiliar places or those I know to be "unfriendly" farther from home. The Taco Bellnear there didn't seem to have the same clientele, but I know some people workingin the nearby McDonalds. They've told meabout co-workers intimately familiar with the penalties for carrying CC without a permit and the posession/distribution of controlled substances.

Think about the possibility next time you go to McDonalds. The "kid" taking your order or assembling your burger may have been a recent guest of the Commonwealth because he was also in the habit of CCing a pistol without going through the trouble of getting turned down for a CHP (because of multiple felony convictions).

I neverthought aboutthe Commonwealth's legal system as having a revolving door, but I guess it does. An hourly(rather than a salaried manager) McDonalds employee without a felony record is as common as one with a college degree.

Profoud apologies for falling off the Topic Train here...
back On Topic: Can you CC in a bowling alley?

As has been mentioned, you must OC in establishments were ABC-ON is displayed.

"Have any of you OCd in one?". We do it all the time down here. I did yesterday. Come join us.. experience freedom for a change.
I do like that idea.

Notice - All Patrons MUST be armed. :celebrate

Wouldn't it be a kick to see a sign saying this? Oh my heavens, we can't do that. Think of the children.

Been there done that -

Gun town U.S.A., revisited - success of Kennesaw, GA's gun ownership requirement law in preventing crime

In March 1982, responding to the passage of a handgun ban in Morton Grove, Illinois, and the fawning media coverage that accompanied it, the city council of Kennesaw, Georgia, decided to make a statement of its own. With exceptions duly made for convicted felons, the disabled, and those with religious objections, the council passed (unanimously) an ordinance requiring each head of household to own and maintain a gun.
I well remember that. Kennesaw did this for two reasons. 1) As you mentioned, to thumb their noses at Morton Grove and the mindless insanity of their town council, and 2) because of creeping criminal activity coming from the Atlanta area posed a threat to their little town and it made so much more sense for the people to be armed then to spend money on increasing the police budget.

The result? In the first year, Kennesaw saw a decrease of residential burglaries of 89% while Morton Grove enjoyed an increase of the same crimes of 43%.

What did Einstein say about insanity.....?
Einstein said nothing about insanity. It is a common misquote.

"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results"

It deals with repeating an action and doesn't apply to the situation you discussed.

Happy New Year!
.... ahhh, Kennesaw, GA; wentto undergraduate school in Atl, sister lived in Kennesaw; this was mid-80's and they had a law (still) on the books (then) that stated that the male homeowners had to own at least two guns. Also had a few of David Dukes boys in full camo passing out flyers and leaflets in the center of town; wonder how much times have changed...?

I OC at every place that serves alcohol, just to be safe and hassle-free.

Question - now that it is the winter months; are we required to display/move to OC upon crossing the threshold of the establishment, or do so once situated (i.e. at the bar, table, etc..) by the removal of outer garments?

At Fuddrucker's, after a VCDL meeting, Phil told "someone" who put on his jacket while leaving that he was breaking the law.

I always pull my jacket aside to OC when entering.

But this raises an interesting issue that Tess & I were discussing at lunch one day: what might a citizen think when seeing us pull our jackets aside to OC as we enter a restaurant?

I carry S.O.B. VA tuck, and slow down to let folks in front of me before pulling up my jacket, but cannot always be in front 100% of the time.

They do that on purpose, I think.

With the temperatures including the windchill being in the single digits to 0 or less at times, there should be a little give and take when entering an alcohol serving establishment. I'll be damned if I'm taking my coat off outdoors. I'll remove it as soon as I get inside and the door's shut and I'll put it back on before opening the door when leaving. Then again, I always could just hold the door open, (while letting the frigid winds blow thru the restuarant/bar)as I slowly take my coat off to be 100% legal.

Just wear a jacket instead of a coat and do the "Virginia tuck". Works fine.
