The bill by Assemblyman Anthony Portantino, D-La Canada Flintridge, passed the Senate on a 23-15 vote and returns to the Assembly for final action on Senate amendments. Portantino also carried last year's ban on openly carrying handguns. He said it became clear the ban needed to be extended after gun rights advocates showed up at a police fundraiser carrying long guns.

Yes, dissent must be silenced- one must not protest against our rulers and their waterbearers.

On the basis of the riots and the need to defend one's home & neighborhood you should be bringing that up against this bill. Many blocks were saved by openly displayed rifles & shotguns back in 1992.

Wow, that's uncannily familiar to the committee hearings I saw from Wisconsin. Lots of blather about when is the best time to separate the curds and whey; after the discussion about when to schedule the next cow-tipping trip.

You'd think they'd be worried about their financial issues rather than tackling problems that don't exist.

dang, i really thought all of those emails were going to sway the liberal gun grabbers in the CA legislature.

face it boys, you either have to move to another state or you have to wait for a huge federal ruling

my guess is all you sheep are just going to stay put and beg and wait.....and wait.........and wait........and beg..........and wait...........

Actually the scenarios I mentioned are "within the system". The founding fathers and the declaration of independance clearly state there are multiple ACCEPTABLE methods of changing government.

You will be bound in chains forever if you dont consider all of them.
