you know, twasn't the brightest thing, IMHO...in today's jittery climate, to walk into a police station with mask and semi-auto wrapped across your chest...
then to tell the nice LEs they can't do that in their own facility...that was precious...

It depends on the department, and it depends on where you are in the station. Some allow it in the lobby area, but not if you are going to an interior office or holding cell area. Kalamazoo allows it in the lobby, but nowhere else in the building. Don't know what Dearborn's policy is, but being a highly liberal area I can guess.

let's see here...wearing ski mask covering everything but your eyes, long gun strapped to your chest; w/other bloke wearing a middler eastern traditional style keffiyeh head garb, one agitated and fired up individual mumbling they feared for their lives during what they perceive is a bogus police traffic stop, so theywalk into the dearborn mi police station to discuss their cause de celebrate....
and repeatedly fail to respond to police orders...
that about it...?

Dearborn police charged them with resisting, breach of peace, and failure to comply. The PD kept their guns and their cameras.

How did the video get on UTube if the Police kept their cameras?
I suppose there are some answers like live brodcast, or the Police put it on there. Don't know, and not trying to make a point, just asking the question.

We still haven't figured out if that area of the Dearborn PD station is/was posted a Victim Zone. If it wasn't, then IMO, it'd be difficult to make those charges stick since the PD had no real reason to disarm them in the first place.

His buddy, Brandon Vreeland, a fellow open carry advocate, also had on body armor but left his gun in the car, instead bringing along cameras to videotape the encounter that was about to take place.
On Monday, the Dearborn Police Department and a statewide open carry group condemned the two men’s action as irresponsible and reckless.
“I find this behavior totally unacceptable and irresponsible," Police Chief Ronald Haddad said in a statement Monday afternoon. "This is not a 2nd Amendment issue for me. We had members of the public in our lobby that fled in fear for their safety as these men entered our building."
Tom Lambert, president of Michigan Open Carry Inc., a gun-rights group, issued a statement supporting the police handling of the incident.
"Let us be clear, Michigan Open Carry Inc. in no way supports the actions of these individuals," Lambert said. "It is our belief that their actions were reckless and primarily designed to draw attention and a response."

In a country where we see mentally ill sociopaths murdering dozens of people in the name of their religious beliefs, or over a domestic dispute, or because they hate gay people, or because they hate the police, or because they hate everyone, these flying ******** morons dress up like stereotypical terrorists, carry stereotypical terrorist weapons, and go walking into a police department and are surprised when they're treated like, oh I don't know TERRORISTS? This isn't someone walking down the street with a holstered sidearm on their hip, or even with a rifle slung across their back - this is a couple of knuckleheads with no common sense. Every time some nutjob goes off and kills a bunch of people for whatever reason, we ask ourselves, how can we prevent this kind of thing from happening again? The answer is to observe, report, and react to suspicious activity - and frankly, I would have drawn down on these jackwagons the moment they came walking through the door, too.
I am as stout a supported of open carry as you can find - this crap is NOT open carry. I also believe that there is an effective way to use the practice to achieve an end...and then there's just sheer stupidity.
This is risking a catastrophe.
