Okay, i had just applied for my ccdw here in kentucky. Yes i have a record from 8 years ago. It was 4th degree assault minor injury. I was denied my ccdw. My record doesnt state domestic violence. Im about to start the appeals process but was wondering if you all would know what supporting documents i should provide to prove that i can have my gun rights and that im not a threat to society. I was 19 when i was arrested i am 27 now. i am also a military wife and have 3 kids. And with all the threats aiming towards military and families i would like to be able to protect my family if the need ever arose. Plus my husband has to leave alot and i would like to be able to protect myself and family while he is gone.

what made me get the assault record was back in 2009 my ex and myself was in an altercation which made me protect myself (being young first time in jail i pleaded guilty without thinking) i was scared. we do share a child in common. but i was never charged with domestic violence. i had probation for 2 years. since then me and him get along great (when he isnt in jail) and we live in 2 total different counties.

I need help. i have less than 20 days to do all of this and i am clueless on what i need to do

You know that you have come to an open carry website to ask about a concealed carry issue, don't you? Too much information not included in your story. Where did your arrest and conviction take place? Was it in Ky.? I am not a lawyer, but I don't think that the charge has to specify "domestic assault", if it was an assault and the person that was assaulted was a domestic partner, it is automaticly "domestic assault". The length of your probation, 2 years, screams FELONY. Have you got any paperwork from your conviction? Did you have an attorney when you were convicted? You need help. Get an attorney.

It wasnt a felony, i have the documentation proving it is a misdemeanor charge. and yes for a domestic assault charge it actually has to state dv next to the assault. As far as this being an open carry site i figured i could ask the issue as i seen on a few others that have asked similar issues, there is no need to get rude about asking a simple question. and yes the charge was in ky i have never lived any where other than ky (sadly)
