The safeway on 99th street near 164th in lynnwood kicked me out for having my firearm. I asked him if it was store policy and he said yes. So being the hothead I am, I just said ok then last time we do buisness here and left. On another note, I was open carrying at another safeway off ofevergreen in everett (off of same road 99th turns into evergreen) and I had no problems. The store manager even saw I was carring and had nothing bad to say. So dunno if its just a store thing or what. I did have one guy ask me if my gun was real....I kindly said "no its just for looks, compliments my wardrobe" lol

I highly doubt that store managers are allowed to make decisions of that magnatude as opposed to having a corporate policy. I would advise getting them to show you their REAL policy and preferably get a contact number for someone at corporate who knows what they are talking about.

Thats odd .I OC in the safeway in Seatac all the time.Have even had conversations with the manager and the security guard and no one has ever brought it up.There is a us bank there as well and I stand in line there often OC and never an issue.Irfner and j213 have had coffee with me at the starbucks there and never a problem.I would be doubtful if it is store policy unless that particular manager is making it up as he goes.

I've OC'd in the Shelton Safeway for over a year and never once had a problem with any of the staff. I doubt it is corporate policy. Only the morons personal policy. I would have asked speak with his supervisor andto see the policy in writing. It's your right to have the nitwit prove his statement. At this point I would e-mail corporate and get the actual facts.

I have OC'd at both the 196th and Hwy 99 in Lynnwood and the Edmonds one on Hwy 99 just north of the King County border. Never a problem.

I would also like to point out that, at most, this qualifies for the Watch List, per the rules on the DNP List thread. If you think they deserve DNP status, you need to see a sign or a policy in writing. It sounds like this is a rogue manager with an agenda and I'll bet that a call to corporate will set this straight.

Sorry. I meant to quote Deros72 the first time.

Deros, you should tell them what the gal at the bank told you. (This is the US Bank inside the Safeway)

A while back the branch manager came over while I was having coffee and told me I had to cover my weapon ,that it was illegal.I gave him a brief tutorial and a pamphlet. He looked for a minute and said Damn I didn't know that.He has never brought it up again. The assistant told me one time that she felt safer .

P.S I thought I would help my buddy out with his new Taurus mellinium and scrub it up with comet and a bottle brush.......Got all that nasty oil off of it along with that uglymatte finish on the slide:D

If I remember correctly, Safeway is based in Utah where their gun laws make ours look draconian. You can CC everywhere and the State had the balls to tell the Olympic Committee to either follow State law or get out.

I use to do it there all the time, but I came in at night and someone pointed me out to the clerk and she had the person in charge at the time tell me to leave. I am currently writing letters to the store manager to see what if any, policy is. If we are not aloud they need to put a sighn up.

Safeway is actually based in California, and I have called them twice in the past 3 weeks to find out what their policy is and they never returned my phone calls.

P.O. BOX 29093
Phoenix, AZ 85038 - 9093

But their

Yup, Pleasanton CA, I worked for them for about 5 years believe me they are based in CA. The funny thing is though that our pay checks came from AZ

The problem with asking for a corporate policy is that you may not like the answer you get. If they don't have a policy on gun carrying you are asking them to make a decision, and they will be under pressure to prohibit it.

Well when you are having problems like the OP the next step would be to ask corporate.
