State ACLU's vary widely on this issue. always have.

NATIONALLY, the ACLU has been craptastic on gun rights.

however, the ACLU is often more than willing to sign on in police misconduct cases, so where gun rights and police misconduct intersect, it surprises me not at all that ACLU would sign on

but in general, their national org has been a complete hypocritical joke on the 2nd amendmwnet

The kind where someone claims to be a supporter then says a limit to the right is ok in court or somewhere that a restriction can become law; I suspect the ACLU.

I do not suspect the ACLU. I do not believe for one minute that the ACLU would waste resources to do what you seem to suspect.

And, it isn't just the ACLU. It is also Fiorino and his attorneys.

it is a known fact that the ACLU is a pro liberal organization and that pick the very liberal side to any issue. granted they have been very bad for the 2ndA, but they do have a running issue with the fourth and 5thA. so i am tickled when they come to the support of a fellow citizen

Yes, but do not forget, that is 'as a whole.' Specifically, have you looked at the statements by the Nevada ACLU that I linked back a few posts?

The ACLU threw their hat in the ring to defend those college students in TX a few years ago who were prohibited by their campus from having an Empty Holster Day as part of their SCCC group.

ACLU attitudes vary GREATLY by state and region. Up here in the Mid-Atlantic, they are, as you put it, CRAPTASTIC on gun rights--from MD to NC. But in states like TX and NV--where most of their contributors are also gun owners, they have a MUCH different attitude...

Now, in THIS specific case, it appears that the 2nd Amendment is quite secondary, and/or irrelevant to the reason the ACLU is involved:

civil rights action against the City of Philadelphia and against the above-named persons in their individual capacities, for violation of his constitutional rights to be free from unreasonable searches, excessive force and malicious prosecution, and to speak without fear of retaliation.

i didn't say you made that statement. you made a statement about a state ACLU. i confirmed this by adding that STATE ACLU's can be quite good on this topic, as contrasted with the national ACLU which isn't
