I am sort of new to the whole Open Carry thing, so a quick few questions I wanted to ask all of my new pals on here.
1. Do I need a permit or anything to do this in Kentucky?
2. Do you get bogged down by the cops if you have it out in the open?
3. Can a cop legally require you to show them anything to prove you can do this?
4. I have an MP Shield 9mm, what would your choice of holster be for this smaller gun?
To give a quick background. I have been to poor to afford much of anything until recently (thanks Trump tax cuts) when I got a great opportunity. The first gun I have ever bought myself was my MP shield 9mm. Until recently I have just kept it at home safe just in case I needed it, occassionally practicing outside when I am not to busy with work. But recently where I live (I am staying anon), it has gotten a little more....weird? Drugs are a bigger problem in my community than I realized when I first came here. We get some real crazies bothering people lately. I wanted to open carry to signal to people as a deterrent.
There is this other thing, since David Hogg, I became a member of the NRA. I work a lot in Meme Culture in my off time and I am surprised by how Culturally Unpopular guns can be. I wanted to start Open Carry to advocate for Gun Rights, and to normalize the idea of guns being a good rather than a bad. I realize that the way to change requires both sound arguments and altering perceptions.
My goal is to change things be encouraging people to be more Open with their support for the 2nd amendment and love of Guns. My view is we already won the battle in the Arena of Ideas and Facts, the next step to Change will be to alter the culture and its perceptions of people who carry openly by having more of them.
