No trigger protection would not be my choice - see the opportunity for an ND.Three inch S&W Model 13 or four inch S&W Model 686, depending on if I'm in uniform or not.

Sure it can - has happened, more than once. It's a double action revolver. It's not going to go off accidentally. The plus side is that the holster can't cause something, like a finger, to pull the trigger when reholstering.
Can't tell if the hammer is back, or forward. Also, is that a leather strap over the hammer? No trigger protection would not be my choice - see the opportunity for an ND.
Yea hammer looms forward with retention strap over it to keep gun in and hammer downCan't tell if the hammer is back, or forward. Also, is that a leather strap over the hammer?
My two types of OC. I'm on the left wearing a Bladetech dropdown with a Blackhawk Serpa retention holster. My other method is a Blackhawk Serpa retention holster with a paddle, like the guys wearing on the right. This picture was taken at the Lenexa Open Carry meeting this July.
How many people actually OC every day with a drop down leg holster? Not at events but just as EDC most people including myself that i have seen are hip holsters of some type seems abit tactical for EDC but maybe im wrong. It also looks as if the guy with the drop down is wearing a 2 inch duty belt.
Richieg
I would agree with you on comfort using the drop down it is just with the 10 million cop sows on TV and all of them wearing tactical style gear pants with pockets on the side drop down holsters boots bla bla bla on and on it just seemed like i would get a tons of stares and maybe even an mwag call or 3. I live in the KC metro area and work in OP. I will give it a go on the drop holster to see. I am already half way there I wear black dickies with pockets on the side to carry all my IT crap and usually black boots I wear as i ride my Harley daily if possible. I am not sure how secure I would feel riding my Harley with forwards and the firearm strapped to my leg it would seem less secure then having it on my hip. What kind of bike do you ride is your leg extended out from your body when you ride?
This is me riding my Buell at Deals Gap, look real close and you can see the end of the muzzle on my right hip. I wasn't sure about the OC laws there so I covered it up. That's a Serpa holster with paddle, so no worries about it falling off or out. My Drop down also has a SERPA holster, I have never worried about it falling out while riding. I've learned that people are going to stare no matter what kind of holster you wear, what you wear, how you interact, ect. What holster you decide on, is up to you, but make the choice you want. Those that are looking for a reason to complain, call the popo, ect.. are going to do it anyway. The drop down holster rides on the side of your thigh, if you look at the pic of me riding, there is nothing there to obstruct the holster in that spot. Its way more comfortable on my hip, the leather jacket is loosened all the way up but it still crams the holster into my right hip when I wear it covered up that way.SO.... I wear the drop down holster.
Deals Gap is a hell of a ride nice! I am going to order a Serpa next pay check which is only once a month for me. Has anyone ever used the blackhawk SERPA Quick Disconnect Kit This is a main reason i am looking at this to use as a platform for all my carry. As I want to have it in my vehicles and hip holster and drop down. This really seems the way to go. Although I have not seen it in in real life yet.

I received the Serpa yesterday. I have never used a holster that had options for cant im sure this is a personal choice best figured by lots of drawing practice as with any new hoster. I just wondering what other opinions are. I have always just wore my firearm straight up center of hip.
So to cant or NOT to cant be the question
Cant pistol grip facing forward as if standing looking forward or cant pistol grip back toward your back side or NOT at All!
