At what cost to us?

We should not take nuclear war so lightly.

Yes, we should defend ourselves and allies with whom we have a mutual defense treaty. If North Korea goes nuclear, then we would have no choice but to do likewise. However, remember, there may be another nation involved in a mutual defense treaty that may feel compelled to do likewise--on us.

This is not an eventuality we should look forward to. The saying is, "If you would seek peace, prepare for war," not, "If you would seek peace, seek war."

LOL

North Korea is no threat to North America, obviously. The reason that sad little country's leadership is talking aggressively is so others will send them more stuff. The inner party wants their pleasure palaces and needs to keep the manager class fed or their could be a revolution. "War is the health of the state" and so their new dictator can also get more done by always being on a war footing. See O'brien's conversations with Winston in the novel 1984. "We" also have done this here in the "homeland" with our perpetual war on "terrah", see Fox News, CNN, Washington Post, Rush Limbaugh, etc.

Wouldn't worry to much about Korea. I'd be more worried as to who would join them, since as of lately we've done nothing but put our foot in our mouth's. At least with foreign policy.

We should go to war with N Korea. War worked out so well in Iraq, and Afghanistan. Ten years from now, we can ask ourselves what we're doing in N Korea.

War with North Korea worked out well the first time we did it. We prevented millions upon millions of people having to live under brutal dictators.

If North Korea launches a nuclear weapon it will make Iraq and Afghanistan look like a walk in the park.

Hey, if you want to volunteer to fight or send S. Korea money, that's great, just don't support the state stealing my money to help your cause.

SNIP How many broken Americans are worth one Nork not living under his brutal brother's dictatorship? Is our brutal dictatorship worth them not living under their brutal dictator. Our Founders warned against just such foreign entanglements.

Most Americans living today dont know and/or dont appreciate how much security they have because of America's previous efforts to fight communism and its spread.

The world is a much better place when communism is fought and defeated.

America is a much better place because America did fight communism and did prevent its spread.

Its better to fight communism 6,000 miles away then to fight it at your door step.

Thank God previous presidents and citizens fought communism in far away countries so that I didnt have to fight the Soviets or North Koreans or Japanese in my back yard.

Why don't YOU tell us how much security we got for our freedoms traded away. Fighting communism on our doorstep, is that different from Obama's DHS SWAT teams in our communities and at our doorsteps? Now I know again why I dropped out.

Why dont you tell North Koreans how bad YOU have it in America. I am sure they will cry you a river.

This is just silly and doesn't correspond to reality. I believed this in early high school. I'm not trying to be mean, but whenever people disagree on the internet it always sounds meaner than it is. Communism actually lasted longer in Vietnam, Russia, and in Cuba today because of U.S aggression. Socialism is an untenable economic system and will collapse all by itself pretty quickly. Keeping the victimized population on a war footing prolongs the power of the communist regime. N. Korea may be an exception to that. I know lots of great people that are Korean, but corporately they have a culture that worships authority figures.

Communist countries aren't the only places where this principle applies. In the late 90's and early 2000's the church I was attending did mission trips to Iran with full knowledge of the authorities. They can't go anymore. Why? The anti-american sentiment there has increased dramatically because of the threats from the U.S. government.

You conviniently left out all the countries in the world that are NOT communist or no longer communist due to America's war against communism.

Dont forget that America won the Cold War and the communists lost.

This is why I love you, my friend!

Yea, our war against Vietnam has eradicated Communism in that humble State.

Guys... We've technically been at war with the DPRK since the start of the Korean war... We've never not been at war with them. How can we go to war with a nation, of which we are already at war with, but have not fought because of a cease fire?
