Deff hands down 100% Sprinfield Armory. You can't beat a manufacturer that has been producing firearms for the U.S for overtwo centurys. Butthen again this is all a personal opinion, just happens to be the right opinion...LOL

Heckler & Koch, hands down. You should have left it in the poll.
Ahhh, well, I had it in there. Also had Hi-Point....

I think about 15 options would have been nice...

Do you havec an H-K, R73? How is it?

How reliable is that Kimber of yours? Not better than the H-K, you say?

Yes Hank, I have 3 HKs, a USP compact in 357SIG, USP45 and a USP45 Tactical--and I'm about to pick up a 4th, another compact in 357SIG for my girl. All three have been 100% reliable right out of the box. My warhorse USP45 has thousands of rounds through it and never a FTE, FTF, stovepipe, nothing but bang every time with any ammo I put through it.

The kimber, while ultra reliable now, was not so right out of the box. During the break in period I had a few FTEs.

I'll also happily admit that I am, indeed, a gun snob, if it is not a top tier gun in my opinion, I wont buy it. You do get what you pay for.

Well, there is a value/cost ratio that must be considered at some level of the acquistion. I just don't see it for the Kimber brand. At least not yet. I like their positioning in the marketplace. They've been doing well.

Sorry I the poll doesn't have H-K in it, R73. It would have been interesting to see what others think about it. I wonder how T-hawk would have voted on H-K?

So are you saying that Kimbers cost too much?? I would tend to agree, but IMO they build a very good 1911. I almost got a Wilson Combat CQB 1911, but do not think theirs is much better than the Kimber TLEII, especially not $1k better. Now if HK made a 1911 (which i've heard rumors they are/will be) I'd be all over it :celebrate

edit: I just went ahead and voted for GLOCK. I don't own one (and probably never will just cause they're FUGLY:p) but they do make a functional/durable/reliable pistol for not a lot of money.

[align=left]I agree that Kimbers cost more than I feel they are worth. But that name on the slide is worth something to a lot of people.
I like having Springfield on the slide of a 1911. That's what looks good to me. And, as much as I'm sure I'd get a lot of flak for it, I wouldn't mind the Taurus 1911. It's a pretty nice one.

The Kimbers are too much for me, that much I know. I'm basically a revo guy. I can buy two nice N-frames for one Kimber and have plenty of change left over... :)

No doubt. I actually, personally, own 0 revolvers. I know I need to rectify the situation. So which manufacturer, in your opinion, makes the best revolver? I want to do Cowboy Action Shooting. Ruger Vaquero? Colt? S&W?

(If other than those shown above, specifyin a post.)

My wheeler Ruger Vaquero over my Kimber any day :uhoh:...unfortunatly.

I'm a 1911 Guy.

For 100% liability in semi-autos undar ANY weather/ANY circumstances I would robably say Glock although I hate them personally

I don't do Cowboy Action Shooting. But I hear that one brand they like a lot is Ruger. Those Blackhawks, especially. The Vaqueros too. Those things are pretty dang indestructible. I handled a friends Redhawk at a recent gun show and they are very nice. I just can't get into single action revos.

I really like the modern (say, post-war) Smiths. So many to choose from, small ones (J-frame) mid size (K & L-frame) and the big ones, (N-frame). They say that once you get N-frame-itis, you're doomed. There is no cure. At my last gun show, I picked up two N-frames. A model 27 (.357 magnum), 83/8" bbl.,circa 1977, and a model 57 (.41 magnum), 4 inch bbl.,circa 1980.

The S & W revos are generally better than the Colts, IMO. Although Colt has some classic models like the Python, Diamondback, Anaconda, etc. that are quite nice.

For regular range shooting (or for big animals), as opposed to cowboy shooting, my recommendationfor you would be a model 29 (.44 mag, blue) or a 629 (.44 mag stainless steel). Or maybe a Python. Shop around and get an older one. I think you might like the Python. You might just like sporting that one while OCing around Va. Beach...
